Disney Buys 10% Stake in Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment

The Mouse continues to increase its presence in the comics world by purchasing a stake in Stan Lee’s new company.

Last Thursday, The Walt Disney Company finalized it’s merger with Marvel Entertainment, becoming the new owners of the premiere comic book company in America. Many may not know that the company also bought stake in another company, Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment, that day.

For .5 million dollars, Disney bought a stake in the company, enhanced rights to the company’s creative side, and exclusive consulting services, thought the exact meaning of these terms is still unclear. Disney has had a First Look arrangement with POW! since 2007, hoping to develop projects that can be cross-branded across multiple entertainment platforms, similar to their intentions with Marvel.
