From Invincible’s Rise to Deadpool’s Showdown with Wolverine

Key Comic Thursday Episode 8……
Welcome to this week’s edition of Key Comic Thursday, where we dive into the panels that paved the way for some of your streaming favorites and costume inspirations, all without leaning too heavily on our comic book clichés. Invincible #1 from 2003, we witness the grand debut of Invincible himself. Yes, Robert Kirkman decided the world was ready for a hero who could actually get bruised. Fast forward, and it’s not just comic fans geeking out over him, but binge-watchers on Amazon Prime too. Superman #233 from the golden year of 1971, where Clark Kent swaps his superhero cape for a news desk for the FIRST time ever. But let’s be honest, the real star here is that Neal Adams cover that screams ‘vintage chic.’ It’s proof that sometimes, the cover alone can make a comic legendary. Did you know V For Vendetta was a comic before it was a go-to Halloween mask? It all started here. Credit goes to the brilliantly eccentric Alan Moore in 1988 for crafting a story that would become every rebel’s favorite wardrobe staple. Witchblade #10 in 1996, where Jackie Estacado makes his first appearance before taking on the mantle of the Darkness. It’s like a superhero origin story, but with more shadows and fewer moral high grounds. And what’s with Wolverine #88 from 1994 you ask? It’s the first time Deadpool and Wolverine decided to tango—or more accurately, try to take each other down. Rumor has it they’re angling for their own buddy movie that’s set to arrive on say…..July 26th. Let’s hope their on-screen chemistry is as combustible as their comic book confrontations.
