Please note: New comic book releases and items are subject to change.

E-Ratic #2 – Artist/writer Kaare Andrews ushers in the new year with his second issue from AWA Publishing. The modern-day Spider-man look/feel, but from an indie publisher. This isn’t Spider-man at all folks. The first issue sold very well and the interest will continue to grow as Kaare throttles full steam ahead.
HAHA #1 – Image Comics does their best impression of modernizing a well-known character too. Not at all really. A series based on one-shot stories about, who else…..clowns. The title and covers alone will immediately bring comic fans/readers to think of the Joker. Same thought as the aforementioned comic, this isn’t a Joker comic at all. Various top industry talent will bring their own clown story every month. The premiere issue features writer W. Maxwell Prince and artist Vanesa Del Rey. Aftermarket sales are showing signs of serious interest. Pay attention.
The Amazing Spider-Man #57 – The Last Remains story is over, but the ramifications are still being felt.
The Immortal Hulk #42 – Marvel sneaks in a first-appearance Knull character cover. She-Hulk; Knullified. Cover by Alexander Lozano.

The big two really know how to beat a good thing to the ground. Overkill is not sexy at all, but they print it, people will buy it, so there’s that. King In Black is everywhere and this week we even have a Versus book; King In Black Gwenom vs Carnage #1. King In Black Planet Of The Symbiotes #1 has the potential to introduce a new character or two or three, so pay attention speculators! A once hot Marvel team get their own book; King In Black Thunderbolts #1
Chris Claremont Anniversary Special #1 – Marvel pays tribute to one of, if not THE most influential X-Men writers of all-time. Claremont will provide an all-new story to this celebratory comic. Also, the Pepe Larraz cover is gorgeous.
Serial #1 – Anyone remember how smoking hot the Rachel Rising series got at one time? Most experts still pawning the book off as “optioned” in a broke-ass Hollywood landscape with zero movies on a big screen NOT coming ANYTIME soon. That’s the modern market for ya. Prices have come down as fans have lost interest, but there is hope. Not with the “optioned” Rachael book, but this new comic from the same creator; Terry Moore. Get the comic, ride the fake hype train, sell, rinse, repeat.

Ascencia #1 – Wake Entertainment asks the question, how do we get more eyeballs on our premiere issue? Simple, make a Jim Lee chase variant cover. John Dolmayan writers and Tony Parker pencils.
Star Wars Darth Vader #9 – The Raffaele Ienco Design Cover shows Vader with his robot arm. What does this mean exactly? Absolutely nothing. Just looks super cool.
Mann’s World #1 – From AWA Publishing. A get off the planet and survive story from Victor Gischler (writer) and Niko Walter (art).
Red Sonja The Superpowers #1 – A new super-team from Dynamite Entertainment. That’s super cool. Writer Dan Abnett and artist Jonathan Lau.
Stake #1 – New vampire world story from Scout Comics. Creators David A Byrne and Francesca Fantini.

DC Comics will continue their FUTURE STATE stories this week. No standouts like The Next Batman #1 and Wonder Woman #1 of last week’s new releases, but that Dark Detective #1 cover shows a badass looking Batman on the cover. Our suggestion to the speculation crowd is to pick up all the new Future State books because all you need is for ONE of these comics to present the first appearance that HITS fans just the right way OR have the ridiculous hype train hit, and bam, you can make your money back and then some. Out of ALL the New 52 books, Batman New 52 is really the only speculative comic that made collectors a ton of money on a consistent basis. The modern market is a travesty these days, bloated, overpriced, oversaturated, over-exaggerated, and only good enough to make some money and buy those real collector items from yesteryear. Who’s wants that Negan #1 red variant? Anyone?
