Oh, joy, it’s that time again when the comic book world graces us with a fresh batch of inky treasures, each one promising the adventure of a lifetime (or at least until next Wednesday). Let’s take a whimsical stroll down this week’s release lane, shall we?
Daredevil #7 pits our favorite man without fear (or is it with too much fear? Hard to tell with all the brooding) against Wolverine. Nothing says “good time” like watching two heroes with a penchant for self-torture duke it out. Popcorn, anyone? We swing over to Edge of Spider-Verse #2, where not only do we get the first appearance of Spooky-Man (because the Spider-Verse clearly wasn’t crowded enough), but Cyborg Spider-Man decides to crash the party after his long nap since the ’90s. Ah, the nostalgia of cybernetic limbs and questionable fashion choices. Cyborg Spidey first appeared in 1992’s Spider-Man #18. Erik Larsen provided the first cover appearance with Deathlok; Spider-Man #21. In what reads like a buddy-cop movie script, Jackpot and Black Cat #1 teams up everyone’s favorite bad-luck magnet with… well, Jackpot. Expect hijinks, cat burglaries (literally), and maybe a plotline if we’re lucky. Miles Morales Spider-Man #18 celebrates the 300th Miles comic by bringing in a legion of creators. And yet, it’s still called issue #18, who needs numbering consistency when you have multiverses?

Keep your spider-senses tingling with both Superior Spider-Man #5 and Ultimate Spider-Man #3, because we might be getting new characters in both of them. Or not. It’s like Schrodinger’s Spider-Man until you open the pages. For those who’ve been binging X-Men 97 and thinking, “Wow, I wish this was a comic,” your oddly specific wish is Marvel’s command. X-Men 97 #1 is here, presumably to fill that void in your heart that only ’90s animation nostalgia can. Batman Dark Age #1, if there’s one thing we needed, it was another Batman origin story. But wait, DC promises this one’s different. With Mark Russell and Michael Allred on the job, at least we’re in for a visually and narratively appealing kind of déjà vu. Primer #1 introduces a brand spanking new character and series from DC. Details are as mysterious as Batman’s appeal to Gotham’s criminal psychiatrists, but hey, new is always good, right?
So, there you have it, folks. This week’s comic lineup is like a box of chocolates—a little nuts, definitely sweet, and with a couple of surprises that might just make you question your life choices. But in the best way possible, of course. Grab your capes, masks, or whatever superhero paraphernalia you prefer, and dive headfirst into the glorious madness that is comic book release day. Happy reading!
