Star Wars Visions Peach Momoko #1It’s safe to say at this point that comic creator Peach Momoko is a bad ass. So much so that the folks at Marvel have given her full reign (write and draw) to recreate most of the new Marvel Universe, Manga style. She has slowly created an entirely new universe for a few years now. Where is this all going exactly? Are we to enjoy the unbelievable work she’s done so far to have it all go away eventually? That wouldn’t make much sense and would be wasteful, because it’s very good storytelling (and art). We hope Peach’s new universe will be expanded onward once she is done laying down all of the groundwork. Her “Vision” is now expanding to the Star Wars sector. What is to come with the new Star Wars universe? Peach Momoko is a bad ass.
Superior Spider-Man #1 – Writer Dan Slott and artist Mark Bagley. Look for a possible first appearance here. Well actually, there will be a guaranteed first appearance on the cover once again. Marvel will continue their first appearance Spider-Man 2 video game covers featuring a never-before-published Spidey in different costumes. What is your take on this week’s offering? Cool suit!
Outsiders #1 – The original Batman and The Outsiders #1 from 1983 was an awesome book. Three legends in the industry were involved; Mike W Barr, Alan Davis, and Jim Aparo. Man was that a fun title. Batman having partner issues (no way!), left the Justice League to form his own team, The Outsiders. It was a fun series until Batman literally left his own team in issue #32. Partner issues once again. It was all downhill for the series at that point. Without Batman, the Outsiders were a bore. The series was canceled by issue number 46. What a surprise, said no one ever. With countdown retries throughout the years, the Outsiders never caught on really. So what will be different this time around? Luke Fox leads the way and recruits Kate Kane, AKA Batwoman. That’s not a bad start. Maybe writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly have the secret sauce? Robert Carey is on pencil duties. We shall see.

Speed Force #1 – DC Comics promises to introduce some new villains in this series.
Deadpool Seven Slaughters #1 – This oversized comic takes us on a week-long journey into Deadpool’s life. What day will we start? Will it be a Tuesday, Thursday, or a weekend? Marvel got the co-creator of Deadpool back for another book where he is the writer/artist, Rob Liefeld. This time though, Rob is joined by several other creators. We’re guessing everyone will have an input in a “day”? Or maybe they’ll have their own day? Anyway, books like this usually have a tendency to carry a first appearance in them, so pay attention.

Alien #1 Another restart Alien series. Why are we not using continuing running numbers is a huge mystery. Well, maybe it’s because presenting a number one on the cover will sell more books. That’s most likely the answer to our question. It doesn’t sit right though. Just give us the continuing numbers instead of restarting every four months. Truly makes no sense. That all said, returning readers of our weekly articles know how we view the Alien franchise around here. We always see the potential for upside because of the franchise being in Disney’s house now. Disney has yet to present an Alien (or Predator) film, but when they do, there is no telling if they will borrow anything from these already-made storyboards and new characters. Will this series be the one they take from later on? Who knows? Writer Declan Shalvey and artist Andrea Broccardo.
The Deviant #1 – A new horror story about an ax-wielding Santa Claus from James Tynion IV (writer) and Joshua Hixson (artist). From Image Comics. A very cool variant exists paying homage to Jim Lee’s first comic book work comic; Samarui Santa #1. Click our link and you’ll spot it right away.
Killadelphia #31 – A new story arc starring Spawn. Writer Rodney Barnes, artist Jason Shawn Alexander.
G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #301 It’s a bit hard to fathom that the original G.I. Joe #1 debuted 41 years ago, in 1982. Who remembers the hard stock cover on those comic book racks at your local candy store? Remember being amazed at how it felt different than all of the other comics? Then the pages were so white too. Everything about that debut issue was awesome. Then remember, going back a few years prior (the 70s) to that Joe issue and seeing various issues numbered 32 on it, or 41, whichever number, and them having a big number ONE on the cover someplace saying 1ST SPECTACULAR ISSUE! 1ST SPECIAL ISSUE! Or whatever the heck they said, but it was some kind of Jedi mind trick to get readers excited about something that was usually unnecessary and pointless. And confusing too at times. Why is there a big number one on the 57th issue of this comic? Well, the reminiscing here has a point because Image Comics will be revisiting that well this week. Sort of. Take a look at the cover and you’ll see that old vibe hitting you smack in the face once again. Image Comics claims to be ushering in a new era of G.I. Joe beginning in this issue. So instead of starting at number one again, they’re opting for the antics here. In order to really entice readers, they will be knocking someone off in this issue too. Who will die? Do we care about a new G.I. Joe era? Well, only one way to find out.
Star Wars Return Of The Jedi 40th Anniversary #1 – A Star Wars story told with 40 different variant covers. Yep, you heard that right. The Return Of The Jedi story will be told through cover art. Sounds like an odd concept, but we’ll see how creator Chris Sprouse achieves this feat.
Big Game #5 – The Mark Millar character event will conclude this Wednesday. The Millar-created Nemesis character has killed just about everyone throughout the series, but has he forgotten about someone? Something? The epic conclusion happens and we are here for it.
Syphon #1New miniseries from Image Comics. Mohsen Ashraf and Thomas Hedglen.
