Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars Battleworld #1Marvel will revisit the Secret Wars lure that captivated so many back almost 40 years ago. Will it be as captivating? Probably not, but with veteran writer legend Tom DeFalco at the helm, we do expect some fun to be had. Artist Ryan Stegman’s homage cover art to the original Secret Wars #1 is on point, but looks way too much like the original 1984 Michael Zeck. Ryan did not make it his “own” by adding massive amounts of definitions to each of the characters. Again, nothing wrong with this, but this isn’t much in the way of “owning” your homage cover.
Daredevil Black Armor #1 – We already covered this comic in our Marvel Spotlight post. Here is the direct copy of what we said about it; Marvel Comics is releasing a new limited series called Daredevil: Black Armor. The series is written by D.G. Chichester and illustrated by Netho Diaz and JP Mayer. It is set to be released This Wednesday. The story takes place during Chichester’s landmark ’90s run of Daredevil.
The series follows Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, as he investigates the disappearance of civilians, heroes, and villains alike into Hell’s Kitchen’s depths underground. To solve the mystery, he will have to push his extraordinary senses and armored suit beyond their limits. Throughout the saga, Daredevil will be pitted against a who’s who of Marvel’s deadliest villains including Hobgoblin, Sabretooth, and more.
The first appearance of the black armor suit was in Daredevil #321 in 1993. The suit was created by Daredevil himself when he decided he needed tougher protection while facing off against the Wild Pack. He ditched his familiar red outfit and replaced it with a black and red suit with armor plating.
If you’re a fan of Daredevil, this new series is definitely worth checking out. It promises nonstop intense action and brutal fighting in extreme 90s’ fashion.

Carnage #1 – This new story will lay down the foundation of the next big Venom story. Seems like they’re all “big” at this point. Written by Torunn Gronnbekk and drawn by Pere Perez.
Batman Off-World #1 – A new Bat story from writer Jason Aaron and artist Doug Mahnke will introduce a new antihero named Lone. She’s from the same race as the Starfire clan. Look for more first appearances in this soon-to-be-sold-out comic.
The Amazing Spider-Man #38 – Gang War: First Strike. This will be the last issue before “Gang War” begins.
Previews #423 – The new Zack Synder Rebel Moon is poised to be an absolute monster. The modern-day, revamped Star Wars is what some are calling it. The Rebel Moon franchise is said to spill out in all media. Including video games, action figures, spin-offs, and yes, even comic books. If you are an obsessive comic collector who feels the need to collect any kind of first appearance, no matter what or where it’s presented, this week’s Previews catalog is for you. Rebel Moon debuts on the cover as the action figures take center stage.

Captain Marvel #2The first appearance of new villain Omen appeared in the previous issue; Captain Marvel #1. Learn more about this new character this week.
Uncanny Spider-Man #4 – Marvel promises secrets to be revealed in this issue.
The Holy Roller #1 – New series from Image Comics from writer Rick Remender and artist Roland Boschi. The premise of this comic you ask? Okay, you asked. How about a vigilante that walks around with a bowling bowl and smashes the bad guys in the face? That sounds so ridiculous, it’s absolutely wonderful. The Judge Dredd #1 (1983) homage cover is on point. Look for this comic to sell out as it goes to its second frame in a hurry.
Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #2 – The monster battle rages on…….
Somna #1 – New series from DSTRLY publishing. Okay, one thing always taught in product names/marketing is this. Buyers have to be able to pronounce your name. It’s super duper important. Yes, once in a blue-blue moon a weirdly named product does break out, but those are way far and away between. DSTRLY is even annoying to type out, sorry guys, let’s get cracking on the name a bit. With that mini-rant, a new series from writers Becky Cloonan and Tula Lotay. Tula will also work on the pencils.
Wonder Woman #3 – Wonder Woman’s daughter will appear in her first-ever backup story in this issue.
