A Marvel hero will fall this week. Although the death in comics seem a bit of a non-event these days, whoever takes the dirt nap this week looks like they will be taking a permanent leave of absence. Well, Marvel is making it seem like this will be the “end” for one of their heroes. We as fans should take note that the “Big 2” has heard the outcry of fans and recognize that enough is enough. The fans say; if you kill off a character, keep them dead. The Big 2 gets that and this will probably be one of the last “eventful” deaths for a while, for Marvel anyway. Fallen from Marvel looks like it will be dramatic storytelling at its finest. So dramatic that the solicit for this comic can’t even reveal the writer of this one shot. The dawning of Marvel’s Heroic Age is upon us fans, let us bring it in with a death! Well actually the beginning of the Heroic Age will happen in Siege #4 and the “death” from that Fallen comic really takes place here. The Siege will tie up all the loose ends, end the Dark Reign and begin the Heroic Age. So if you want to find out who the NEW boss man of the Marvel Universe will be, don’t miss this important turn in the Marvel status quo. This week it’s all about Siege and you best be on top of it. Speaking of keeping on top of things, The New Avengers Finale #1 will be spinning from the Siege ashes. There really are only 5 words you need to know about this comic. Ready? Grab a pen; Brian Michael Bendis Bryan Hitch. This will be the hottest book on the planet on the 12th of May, the BEST part of this collector’s item? There will be only ONE print, no variants, no 50/50 covers or glow in the dark, silver enhanced foil (whoa sorry, got caught in the 90’s vortex). Here is the scoop. You see this comic on the shelf, buy it! Dark Avengers #16 will be the series finale. Check this book out for a death as well OR is it still that “Fallen” deal? Either way, don’t miss ANY of the Siege tie-in’s this week! Marvel also has a few other comics you really should be taking a look at this week. Heroic Age Prince of Power #1, Incredible Hulk #609, which features more info on the awesome Skaar character, Daredevil Cage Match #1, and a very hot/sold out Astonshing X-Men Xenogenesis #1 from Warren Ellis and Kaare Andrews. DC comics begins their march towards their next huge run of Batman storytelling. Batman Return of Bruce Wayne #1 will be a blistering comic storyline in the vein of Hush and R.I.P. There will be several options as far as the variants go. Stick with the Andy Kubert Incentive Sketch cover. Bruce is back, make sure you’re on time to meet him. Birds of Prey #1 with writer Gail Simone and Artist Ed Benes will be a quick sell out. If you want their first appearance, look for Showcase 96 #3 from 1996. Check out the new Booster Gold #32 with a new creative team attached. Writer’s Keith Giffen and J.M DeMatteis with artist Chris Batista is definitely worth a look.
