InvestComics Comic Hot Picks 7-20-11

Welcome to the IC Comic Hot Picks.

There are many Indie books to check out this week, but let’s do a quickie of the “big 2” first.

Marvel – With a re-launch of Captain America last week, this week we see another long time Marvel hero get a new number one issue. Daredevil gets the nod this week as Marvel seems to be spreading out their new number one issues as oppose to DC doing most of them all at once. The question remains as always, is this really necessary? That said it should be an interesting go here with Mark Waid writing the series and Paolo Manuel providing the artwork. Very cool Variant covers from legends John Romita Sr. and Neal Adams as well.

Well the hype machine comes out once again with one of Marvel’s solicits stating “This is the X-Men comic that will have people talking for years!” We’ll see on Wednesday if this one lives up to the hype.

The (moderately successful?) Fear Itself rampages on in Fear Itself FF #1 with another fine cover from Gabriele Dell’otto.

DC – Batman #712 introduces a new character. That’s always fun within a Bat comic. War of Green Lanterns: Aftermath #1 is a definite pick up. And the Flashpoint books continue……

Indie’s – Like The Boys series? Check out the new Boys comic The Boys Butcher Baker Candlestickmaker #1. Image Comics Repulse #1 looks like a possible hit. Check out that Szymon Kudranski cover too. Visionary Comics/Pinnacle Entertainment Deadlands: Massacre at red Wing from Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray. Do you really need any other reason NOT to check this book out?

Here are a few more Indie’s you should check out; Marksman #1, Rain #1, Haunted City #0, and the awesome Sergio Aragones with his self titled Funnies #1.
