So InvestComics received a bit of a facelift. Pretty cool huh? And with change there are always A LOT of bugs to figure out, so please be patient as we work out the kinks. Otherwise, it’s looking snazzy! Thanks for everyone’s kind words and support, you guys/gals rock.

Be sure to check out a ton of new material going up on InvestComics these days. Lots of cool new articles popping up daily/weekly.

The current contest on InvestComics will be coming to a close this week. Many people have entered to win a signed Fury #1 from writer Jimmy Palmiotti. All you have to do is share the InvestComics Facebook page and or the Twitter page and you become eligible. This of course is very cool, but if you don’t win this time, don’t fret because there is another contest coming up and boy is it nice!

Let’s move on to the ever “changing landscape” of the Marvel and DC Universe. And oh yes and the Hot Picks.

DC is making this new 52 a long lasting relationship isn’t it? Understanding that DC has restarted everything, it all just seems very muddled at this point. There is so much going on each week, so dramatic, so epic, so….tiresome. This week readers get to that point where Bruce Wayne becomes Batman in Batman (2011 2nd Series) #23. The DC solicit reads as though it’s the biggest thing to happen since sliced bread. Again, understanding that DC is in business to make money, they need to churn that hyperbole up, but haven’t we all been here before? No matter how much a great writer like Scott Snyder spins it as Batman’s first ever sequence of becoming the Bat, we all really know in the back of our minds that this really isn’t new to us. This isn’t a bad reflection on the great series Scott has done, but in the end folks, it’s more of the same here. The tagline for Marvel and DC these days should read The more things change, the more they stay the same.

More curiosity will succumb with Superboy (2011 5th Series) #23 this week as well. This comic promises the debut of a major threat to the DC Universe.

Marvel enters the ever changing of things this week too with Wolverine (2013 4th Series) #8. The tagline on that solicit reads “The biggest Wolverine event in years!” Really?? But we all know that curiosity will get the best of us right?

(Insert sarcasm in the brain for the majority of this paragraph, until the speculation part comes in). In closing with the flare for dramatics this week, Marvel gives us Infinity (2013 Marvel) #1. Not only will this be the return of the biggest bad ass in the Marvel U (Thanos), not only will this be an oversized comic (what is that exactly? Oversized? Why not be double sized? It’s probably not double sized. Maybe just oversized), this number one issue is so big (hype wise) that it will have TEN variant covers. Oh and here’s the best part, this series will “change the way you look at the Marvel Universe!” Really??? Well if you want to make some REAL change in your pocket, pick up the lowest ratio variant, get it witnessed signed (CGC) by Jim Starlin, grade it, hold on to it for a bit until Avengers 2 movie comes around and then dump it. You’ll triple your money. Still won’t be able to afford Iron Man #55 (First appearance of Thanos) at that point, but you’ll have a decent down payment.

IDW Publishing seems to have their ducks in a row. They don’t use the constant flare for dramatics to sell their books. It seems books like Star Wars #1 speak for themselves in the aftermarket. This week IDW brings back a team that debuted way back in 1966’s Dynamo #1 (Tower Comics). The T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents have been well used over the years, and this week THUNDER Agents (2013 IDW) #1 will be again by the IDW team. With Todd McFarlane recently calling out Hollywood to check out the Independent circuit more, there is no telling where Hollywood may look next. Will this team be called upon? Dynamo #1 is one to pick up.

A couple of other comics to check out this week are Resident Alien Suicide Blonde (2013 Dark Horse) #0 and Fubar By the Sword (2013 Alterna) #1.

That’s it for this week, be sure to sign up for the InvestComics Newsletter. It will announce the next contest!

Invest wisely.
