InvestComics in 2010 talks Shang-Chi

The Shang-Chi trailer dropped yesterday. WOW. Here at InvestComics though, we’ve been recommending buying the first appearance of Shang-Chi for years. Since 2010 to be exact.

Here are SOME direct quotes from past articles:

*2010: Shadowland: Spider-Man #1 would be the most fun as far as the back issues go. This issue will sort of re-introduce us to Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu. The solicit from Marvel states that this issue will set a new path for Shang-Chi. So with that, if you want to get your collector paws on Shang-Chi’s first appearance, you’ll have to look for Special Marvel Edition #15 (1973), brought to you by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin. Comics Price Guide.com has this comic listed at the $80 mark. Maybe a bit high for some collectors right now, but karate and kung-fu comics were a hot item at one time. Will Marvel bring back the coolness again?

*2014: The comic that the speculator really should have in their hands is Special Marvel Edition #15 (1973). This comic features the first appearance of Shang-Chi. Written by Steve Englehart, with cover and art by Jim Starlin. Yes, this would be a nice edition to have in your back issue stash.

*2014: A few weeks ago InvestComics alerted all speculators that IF, that’s IF the hand-to-hand combat comics were to take off that Shang-Chi would be a good place to start hoarding. This Wednesday in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #2 The Daughters of The Dragon make an appearance. Probably no big deal, but their first appearance however is. Check out The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #32 from 1977. In there you will find a short story introducing “The Daughters” written by Chris Claremont. How cool is that? The guidelines that applied to Jack Kirby earlier apply here too.

The Shang-Chi universe/movie is going to be BIG. RIGHT IN DISNEY’S WHEELHOUSE HERE. If you can buy the first appearance at ANY price right now, we’d recommend you think about purchasing it, NOW. There is HUGE HUGE upside here. HUGE. Cannot stress this enough. The biggest, best buy recommendation in years. Disney has hit the mark with this trailer and it’s going to begin the new era of kung-fu/karate/fighting films.

1st Appearance
