The Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief star is in talks to play Peter Parker in the Spider-Man reboot.
The Percy Jackson actor has revealed to that he is in talks with Sony Studios to star in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, the first in a franchise reboot after director Sam Raimi and the entire cast of the would-have-been Spider-Man 4, including Tobey Maguire, were dropped from the franchise.
"There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into," the 18-year-old Lerman said. "It’s one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it."
"It’s just, you know, conversations are starting. It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course. I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience."
Though Lerman assures speculators that the interest in him is real and mutual, both his and the studios reps have been quick to come out and say that nothing is set in stone and he is not the "frontrunner" for the role.
