No More Simpsons Movies Until End of Series

Simpsons crator Matt Groening puts to rest any rumors of a second Simpsons movie before the series wraps up.

The Simpsons movie was a success both financially and critically, but don’t look for a sequel anytime soon. Series creator Matt Groening was in Cannes to celebrate the 20th aniversary of the series and recieve the inaugural Mipcom Creative Icon Award, where he told Variety:

"It took 18 years to get around to doing the movie. We
got very frustrated. We thought it would take two years but it ended up
taking four. Some day maybe we’ll do another one — but don’t hold your
breath."

The series, currently in its twenty-first season, is contracted up to the twenty-third. However, all of the key players seem willing to continue beyond that, and there is no reason currently that Fox would not be of the same mind. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that Simpsons fans will have a long time to wait before seeing the family on the big screen again.
