Olivia Munn Talks Iron Man 2

The Attack of the Show hostess talks about improv on the set of Iron Man 2 with Robert Downey Jr.

In an interview on the Casron Daly show, fanboy lust object Olivia Munn talked about the fun she was having on the set of Iron Man 2, where the specifics of her role as Melina Vostokoff / Iron Maiden are a closely guarded secret:

“Well, if you’ve got Robert Downey Jr. it’s going to be a lot. There’s a bunch of improv, over and over. It’s one of those things where you’re on set and you want other people to laugh and the crew to laugh. You get the extras and the contractors who’ve been there all day. If they’re laughing that’s a good feeling.”

It was recently revealed that the first Iron Man movie was shot in many parts without a script, and it seems that improv is a really big part of the franchise, which is not surprising considering the talented actors working on the films. Who knew that Munn would be such a good fit for this sort of movie? Director Jon Favreau, apparently:

“Jon Favreau was familiar with a lot of my work that I had done, the skits that I’ve put out, and just thought that I can keep up with improv and literally offered me the role.”

It seems that Favreau made a wise choice, as even star Robert Downey Jr. was impressed with Munn’s improv chops:

“One day I was doing a lot and coming up with other stuff and at one point Robert just goes ‘Can we just stop for a second? Can we give Olivia a round of applause? Because she is rocking it right now.’ That’s beyond my dream ever and everyone just [clapped]. Afterwards, people were up coming up, ‘that was really great!’ I was so happy.”

Fantastic improv skills, of course, aren’t the only asset Olivia Munn brings to Iron Man 2, which will be in theaters on May 7, 2010. She also has great feet.
