VenomMouse, Deathstroke, and MORE on NCBD.
We’re heading into another New Comic Book Day with the type of lineup that makes collectors twitch a little in the wallet. Eight new titles. Some bringing major returns, others ushering in unexpected firsts, and all of them potentially heating up the back issue market sooner than later. You’ve got legacy heroes celebrating milestones, kaiju throwdowns that could topple Earth’s crust, weird symbiote variants, resurrected assassins, and yes… Bigfoot. Because why not? Here are the Hot Picks for NCBD—where speculation is the name of the game and flipping through panels means keeping an eye on panel value.

Let’s talk about Web of Venomverse: Fresh Brains #1. Because this is where the Venom symbiote apparently decided it was time to stop being terrifying and go full rodent mode. Three brand-new symbiotes make their debut in this issue—yeah, three. But the one everyone’s talking about? Venomouse. That’s right. The terrifying alien symbiote is now a pint-sized, probably cheese-loving menace. If this becomes Marvel’s next viral symbiote breakout, don’t say we didn’t warn you. First appearances of all three new symbiotes = instant speculation magnet.
Over in Wolverine #8, Logan is celebrating his 400th issue. But in true Wolverine fashion, he does so by picking the worst possible fight— enter The Adamantine. This new threat is built to shred, and that’s saying a lot in Wolverine’s world of healing factors and claws. Add to that the return of Wendigo, a trap that seems deadlier than usual, and a mysterious new character emerging from Logan’s past, and you’ve got a high-octane anniversary issue with more keys than a janitor convention. Also featuring a special bonus story by fan-favorite Daniel Warren Johnson. And now for something completely massive—Godzilla vs. Hulk #1. Round two of the kaiju punch-out series drops us into the middle of General “I-Hate-Everything” Ross’ vendetta against all monsters. His Thunderbolts team has already caged Fin Fang Foom, Mothra, and even the Hulk. Now they’re going after Godzilla. Good luck with that. This six-part slugfest continues here with what might be the most destructive showdown in the history of Marvel crossovers. Pick a side. Moonshine Bigfoot #1 is the book you didn’t know you needed, but trust us—it’s going to get weird. Imagine a mashup of Smokey and the Bandit, The X-Files, and a backwoods crime saga… starring Bigfoot. He’s running moonshine, dodging hillbilly hunters, and now caught in the sights of a secret cabal that would make the Illuminati sweat. Alongside his partner-in-crime Amethyst, this is the kind of bizarre premise that could turn cult classic overnight. Don’t sleep on this debut issue—it’s got all the strange energy of a sleeper hit. Then we hit Superior Avengers #1. Let’s just say things are not going great in the Marvel multiverse. Doctor Doom now rules the world (again), and his son Kristoff Vernard is assembling a new Avengers team—on Doom’s orders. These aren’t your typical capes. This team is morally flexible, questionably heroic, and possibly more dangerous than the threats they’re fighting. Written by Steve Foxe with art by Luca Maresca, this issue lays the groundwork for a whole new take on “Earth’s Mightiest,” except this time, they report to Doom. Back from the dead and apparently skipping the welcome party is Deathstroke in Titans #22. Because when Slade Wilson comes back, he doesn’t just want cake—he wants revenge. He’s rebuilding a team of villains, and the Titans are once again in his crosshairs. The resurrection mystery is half the story, the other half is figuring out how much carnage he’s about to cause. And with the Titans already spread thin, this issue could spark a shift in the team’s status quo—and collectors are always sniffing around for that kind of shakeup. You want long-term impact? Look to Summer of Superman Special #1. An oversized issue loaded with creators like Joshua Williamson, Mark Waid, and the debut of Dan Slott in the Superman realm, this book sets up the blueprint for the next big wave of Superman storytelling. Lana Lang and John Henry Irons tie the knot, but it wouldn’t be a Superman event without some chaos crashing the party. New arcs for every major character begin here—so expect key teases, status shifts, and maybe even the start of something bigger for the Superman Family titles across the board. Last but definitely not forgettable, G.I. Joe #6 hits the end of its story arc with a title that basically reads like a pay-per-view match: Duke vs. Cobra Commander. The confrontation we’ve been building toward explodes here, with a twist ending that promises to catch everyone off guard. No spoilers, but if you’re collecting Joe books tied to the Energon Universe expansion or speculating on key turning points for main characters, this one’s non-negotiable.
