Aliens Invade Marvel and More: Unpacking This Week’s Hot Comic Releases

Aliens vs Avengers #1 not only marks a monumental crossover but also celebrates a highly anticipated encounter that fans have speculated about for years. With the Alien franchise now under the Disney umbrella since 2019, the stage is set for epic clashes. This issue features a variant cover that has already captured fans’ imaginations: Venom and an Alien locked in combat. This cover is particularly significant as it represents the second(?) appearance (or whatever appearance) of an Alien vs Venom in a Marvel comic, the historic first moment was spoken about by InvestComics back in 2021. For those keen on the cover checks we do, check out our early insights: InvestComics’ 2021: Alien vs Venom Coverage. As highlighted then (Venom #32), the interaction between Marvel’s iconic symbiote and the quintessential sci-fi predator was inevitable to happen inside of a comic and not just a cover, but we made sure to inform speculators this was the first appearance of these two ever in the same room. Now they’ll appear for the first time inside of a comic book this Wednesday. A big deal here considering Disney is literally sitting on a goldmine here. How long will it take to see a live-action Venom vs Alien movie? Disney has to realize what they have here. This series is not just a battle but a blending of two formidable universes, offering a unique narrative and collectible potential. In Deadpool Team-Up #1, Deadpool recruits a powerhouse lineup including Wolverine, Crystar, Major X, Ghost-Spider, and Hulk for a mission that’s as unpredictable as it is inevitable. Rob Liefeld orchestrates a symphony of chaos, blending classic action with fresh adventures. And did you know you can purchase Crystar’s first appearance for dirt cheap? Marvel Age #1 and Crystar #1, both from 1983. There must be so many of those printed, it’s that inexpensive. Crazy. The Incredible Hulk Annual #1 confronts Hulk with the cosmic menace of Thanos in a battle over the Mind Stone. The introduction of Worldmind adds a cerebral dimension to Hulk’s typically physical confrontations. Chasm: Curse of Kaine #1 pits Kaine Parker, transformed into Chasm, against his clone counterpart Ben Reilly in a narrative rich with internal conflict and dark transformations. The stakes are personal, and the outcomes are unpredictable in this high-tension clone saga. Phases of the Moon Knight #1 not only revisits Marc Spector’s current deeds as Moon Knight but also introduces an ancient bearer of the mantle during the Old Crusades. This inaugural issue is set to unveil forgotten chapters of the Moon Knight legacy, adding depth and historical gravitas to his storied lineage. Marvel 85th Anniversary Special celebrates Marvel’s cosmic-sized milestone with stories set in the year 50,000, exploring legends of Marvel heroes through the lens of the distant future. This issue is not just a look back but a leap forward, weaving tales that span centuries of heroics. Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #4 offers a twisted face-off that might just rip the fabric of the 616 universe. With villains aplenty and allies like Jessica Jones at her side, Gwen’s battles are as much internal as they are external. Paolo Villanelli and Stephanie Phillips spin a web that’s both enchanting and enthralling.
