History happened this week with the announcement of Archie Comics FIRST gay character to be introduced in Riverdale (Kevin Keller). Dan Parent will be drawing that historic issue (Veronica #202) and Dan stops by the quick fire 10 For The Pros on InvestComics.

Dan Parent – Artist/Writer 

Dan Parent is an American comic book artist and writer best known for his work for Archie Comics. A graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, Parent began working for Archie immediately after graduation. His writing of the Love Showdown series from 1994 received widespread attention.

Also receiving VERY large national attention is the recent announcement of Archie Comics first gay character. Kevin Keller will be introduced in September’s issue of Veronica #202. This story has now been featured on CNN, Fox, The NY Daily News amongst MANY other high profiled newscast and newspapers and magazines.

1. What comic (character) would you love to have total creativity control over? And why?

(DP) Wonder Woman – Nobody seems to care about her and E-Man – A long forgotten but great Charlton character.  

2. If you could have 1 superpower, what would it be?

(DP) Invisibility – to spy on everybody who dares defy me!  

3. Do you have a routine that you follow before or during work?

(DP) I try to work out 4 or 5 days per week – to balance sitting on my ass all day. 

4. Who is your favorite creator to work with?

(DP) Dan DeCarlo was the best.  

5. In your opinion, do you feel that the movie industry is doing a good job with the Comic Book movies?

(DP) Very good – surprisingly (exception FF movies).  

6. What comic book hero/villain do you want to see on screen?

(DP) Harley Quinn. 

7. “If I wasn’t in the comic book industry, I would be working…………”?

(DP) In the fast food industry. 

8. What advice could you give for a creator trying to break into the industry?

(DP) Run for the hills – just kidding – be persistent and accept rejection – it’s par for the course. 

9. “My best Investment in life was…….”

(DP) Going to the Joe Kubert school.

(DP) Dan DeCarlo, Joe Staton, Stan Goldberg, Dave Stevens, Jamie Hernandez.

Haven’t checked today’s, Friday, program yet and since everyone has an opinion on the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga and have rechecked my numbers, it is very unlikely that I ll change my opinion since the track conditions should not be an excuse, or reason, to make any major changes Mindframe remains my main puzzle, but if those two races are a small amount of proof, how can we judge it otherwise ? ‘ It is what it is’, considering the connections trainer and, although he’s been cooling off , the perennial leading, abrasive rider: 3-9-10—-3-9-10–1-5—1-3-9-5-10-2-8Plus,5 (1-3-9-10), boxed Also 10 over 3-9-1-5-8Are Mystic Dan and Seize the Grey tired ?
