The hottest DC comic coming out next week will be, without a doubt Legion of Super-Heroes #1. Paul Levitz’ return will make this book a hot commodity. Add a Jim Lee variant cover and you have an even hotter commodity. Having Paul advcomics247_1958_1stlegionofsuperh.gifbatsup72.gifLevitz as the writer for the new series will keep this series at a very high level as far as demand and resale value. If you’re in the market for a nice investment involving the Legion of Super-Heroes, look for Adventure comics #247(1958). This issue is the first appearance of LoSH and will cost you around the $10K to 14K mark. A very nice investment on a comic that will increase in value as the decades go by. This comic 10 years ago was at the 6K mark, so the market has treated this comic kindly. Do not look for that trend to stop now. With all of the hype surrounding the new Paul Levitz Legion series, there will be another Paul Levitz zatanna1.gifhawkman4_1964_zatanna.gifcomic that will fly WAY under the radar and that comic is Batman Superman #72. This will be an awesome read as well as a nice collector’s item, don’t miss this one. DC will be releasing Zatanna #1. The guess here is that DC looked over at Marvel’s recent success with their Sorcerer of Supreme Dr. Strange and then took their Mistress of Magic Zatanna and gave her an ongoing title. Will this work for DC? Well with names like writer Paul Dini and Artist Stephane Roux at the helm, it will. DC must remain with the “draw” names for now to make this series a “talked” about one. Look for the number one issue to sell out as dcuniverselegacies1.gifavengers1.gifinterest will get the best of collectors on this one. As it should with the two creators that are starting the series and if you are feeling like a risk taker these days, look for Zatanna’s first appearance in Hawkman #4 (1964) in the $250/$300 range. Another number one issue from DC this week called DC Universe Legacies will be a 10 part history lesson on their universe. Yes this has been done quite a few times already, but with names attached to this book like J.G. Jones, Joe Kubert, Andy Kubert and Len Wein, it hasn’t been done like this! This series will be a hot one. Get in on the ground floor this week. Marvel comics will be going all out this week with their new Heroic Age blitz. The Avengers #1 will feature 7 different covers. ageofheroes1.gifavengersassemble1.gifYes 7 different covers, is this really necessary? Anyway, the new series will be as hot as hot could be for quite some time, with creators John Romita Jr. and Brian Michael Bendis doing the honors of introducing the new era. If you want to make a nice turnover for your buck, look for the John Romita Jr. Gatefold variant or his daddy’s variant. Both of these comics will be sought after for a long time because this series will remain very hot. 7 covers though?? Marvel comes at us with 5 other number one issues this week, all pertaining to the Heroic Age. Age of Heroes #1 (Kurt Busiek comes back to Marvel, plus a host of others on this book). Avengers Assemble #1 (Various creators on this book as well. It’s the official Heroic Age Avengers handbook). Enter the Heroic Age #1 (5 creative teams/5 new Heroic Age comics coming out. Looks like an introduction book). entertheheroicage1.gifheroicagemagazine.gifHeroic Age magazine #1 (the solicit explains the Heroic Age “starts here”. Don’t think so, but the magazine contains behind the scenes of new heroes, new villains and lots more with various creators attached to this one as well). The best of the Heroic Age lot comes in the form of Origins of Marvel comics #1. Short origin stories brought to you by creators like Alan Davis, John Romita Jr., Leinil Frances Yu and many more, so if you’ve somehow missed Spidey’s origin or Punisher’s origin or Captain America’s origin that have been told a bazillion times, look for the hot creators take on how THEY see it, but in a shorter condensed version. It will be Interesting to see how this comic will look and sell.
