Learn more about the new villain (group); Power Elite in Captain America’s ninth restart. Volume 9; Captain America #1. The new series arrives with at least 20 variants, if not more. So, plenty of covers to choose from. And plenty of beautiful covers that will make their way around the social media circuit.
The Cosmic Ghost Rider character is a hit. Trending at an absurd pace right now. You sitting down? Okay, you sure? Well, recently a first appearance of the Cosmic one in a variant cover Thanos #13, graded CGC 9.8 sold for……..$771+. That’s correct, this is not a misprint. Almost $800 for a comic that is not even a year old yet. Six months old to be exact. Six months old…..let that sink in. Another reason why InvestComics had to move on. This is absurdity. Anyway, the first solo comic will hit with a fervor. Look for a tremendous interest in the variant covers as this comic sells out quickly. The trend will hit hard as fans show off their booty all over Instagram and Facebook. Writer Donny Cates and artist Dylan Burnett bring the new age Ghost Rider to comic shops this Wednesday; Cosmic Ghost Rider #1.
The question Marvel ponders, ‘What to do with the Inhumans television disaster?’ Simple, you kill them off in a comic book series. Well, they say they will and as the title states; Death Of The Inhumans #1, but we all know it will not really happen. But that said, with the likes of one of the hottest comic writers on the planet right now Donny Cates and renowned artist Ariel Olivetti, this comic will kick some major as*. And what’s with the variant cover with ‘VOX’? Is that a revamp Vox character from Avengers The Initiative #7 (first appearance- 2008) or a new VOX altogether? Either way, very appealing.

Learn some secrets regarding Peter Parker’s parents in Spider-Man/Deadpool #35.
Marvel’s revered Star Wars series hits a milestone this Wednesday; Star Wars #50. What surprises are in store here? A must get for Star Wars fans and collectors alike.
From our calculations, The Russian Winter Guard team was last seen in Monsters Unleashed #2 very recently. The time before this was in 2015, when Marvel was still in a bitter stalemate with Fox Studios over the Fantastic Four, X-Men, etc. Fantastic Four #643 in 2015 was the last scene appearance before their recent stint. The Winter Guard first appeared in Iron Man (Vol.3) #9 in 1998. Okay, now that’s out of the way, The Winter Guard make an appearance this week in Weapon X #20.
Marvel Rising Squirrel Girl And Ms. Marvel #1; Writers Ryan North, G.Willow Wilson and Devin Grayson. Artists Ramon Bachs and Irene Strychalski.

Batman #50 Cake Variant

The wedding of the century has arrived. Batman #50 brings fans, media and social media to a frenzy as Batman weds Catwoman. Will this marriage stand the test of time? We’ll have to wait and see, but for now we’re all invited to a wedding, so let’s all wish the couple a prosperous life together. As expected, lots and lots of variants accompany the release.
With the wedding comes something new correct? How about Catwoman #1 from writer/artist Joelle Jones. Yes, this is a great wedding gift for comic fans, thank you Joelle….and DC. We appreciate it.
Is Damian Wayne really Slade Wilson’s son? Or is he really Batman’s son? Find out what and who and possibly why in Deathstroke #33.

As all of the Creator Spotlights on InvestComics, each and every one of the creators have their own uniqueness. Rob Liefeld stormed into the industry back in 1987 and took the industry by the proverbial ears, starred into its eyes and said “I’m taking over.” So he he did.

He was one of the busiest creators in the industry at one time. The man was churning out comics at a ridiculous rate. That was good for the fans because they couldn’t seem to get enough.

Check out some of Rob Liefeld’s key books in his vast career thus far. Everything from Deadpool to Jada Pinkett Smith. Yes Jada….

Marc Spector, Moon Knight #19 (1990) A solo Rob Liefeld Moon Knight cover with Spider-Man and the Punisher.

New Mutants #98 (1991) Well here it is. The Holy Grail. Only fours years into his professional career, Rob hits on a character that will forever change his career and the Marvel character landscape. The cover alone has been paid respect to so many times throughout the years. Rob Liefeld introduced the world to Deadpool and Marvel had a character for the ages. Not much can be said about this comic and character that hasn’t been said already, but Rob is officially a superstar now.

X-Force #1 (1991) This comic was ridiculously hot back in the early 90’s. Too many copies released prevented it from gaining any substantial aftermarket heat. Rob pencils/inks and cover art. Many collectors these days go after the bagged issue with the Deadpool trading card. Claiming it’s an early appearance of Deadpool. It’s a card. Seriously, it’s a card, not a comic appearance.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 12/17/14

As stated in previous weeks, there are big changes coming to the InvestComics platform. Changes that will benefit the collector in all ways possible. It’s been a 9 year run (going on 10 years) that InvestComics has giving the speculator/reader a platform like no other web site on the internet. There are a lot of sites that have popped up over the past few years/months/weeks that have tried to duplicate the InvestComics lure, but fall short because we have the library of information provided for so many years. If you don’t take yourself so seriously, enjoy the modern/bronze age speculative/reading aspect of collecting, then you will enjoy what is to come. Stay tuned.

Coming up on the holiday season here. A very busy life calls for a less busy InvestComics Hot Picks! This doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of comics to read and speculate on for your own liking. Check out what made our list though…..

All New Captain America #2 will continue to focus on the character Nomad. It’s just a matter of time before we see this dude in a movie right? Probably not, maybe, who knows?! Anyhow, here is a small checklist (you know InvestComics has LOTS of checklist too!) on the character Nomad.

Nomad_First_Appearances_InvestComics

Nomad’s first appearance was in Captain America #180 (1974) as Steve Rogers. Captain America #261 (1981); Edward Ferbel, Captain America #1 (2013); Ian Rogers. And Jack Monroe; Captain America #282 (1983). So the question to ask yourself now is, should I buy these? Well, all of these first appearances are very affordable. You won’t lose any money and Captain_Marvel_10_InvestComics Ms_Marvel_1_InvestComicsyou’ll get great stories to boot. The answer to your question is simple. Yes.

Another Captain to look out for this week is Captain Marvel. Ever since the Captain Marvel movie announcement, Captain Marvel has been extremely hot in the aftermaket. Captain Marvel #10 will have a very cool cover that pays homage to the original appearance of Carol Danvers from Ms. Marvel #1 (1977). Marvel is celebrating the 100th solo issue with the tribute cover. The best part of this “very cool cover” is that it’s not a variant. Regular cover here!

And speaking of variants and homage covers, how about Spider-Woman #2? The obvious money grab from Marvel is stated right on the cover! Stay classy Marvel. Anyway, this “nothing to do with Spider-Woman” cover borrows from the famous Amazing Spider-Man #129 (1974) (Punisher’s first appearance of course). This variant will be cover price on Wednesday. Will it stay that way for long? Maybe not given the fact Rocket Raccoon is so popular these days and Amazing_Spider-Man_129_InvestComics Spider_woman_Rocket_raccoon_investcomicsit’s a great tribute cover.

Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #8 promises a mind blowing event. Readers will find out what is behind the Miles Morales legacy and who Miles’ daddy is.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #37 will reveal the secret history of Roy Harper and Oliver Queen, so fans of those two will want to check this out.

The speculative market does not remain all that quiet with new releases from Image Comics. The red hot Wytches will continue its torrid pace with Wytches #3 and Rumble #1 looks to be a nice pick-up. Ray Fawkes’ Intersect #2 will see some awesome sales. All of these Image titles will be sold out very soon. Titan Comics will have three number comics coming out on new comic book day. Check out 13 Coins #3, Mono #1 and Captain Stone #1. All of Titan’s new number ones are sold out or just about there. If you want em’, grab em’.

Titan_Comics_investcomicsSee you soon. Invest wisely.

Carpe Diem.

Two number one issues coming out this week from Marvel are going to prove worthy of success, but die an unfortunate quick death. Maybe not so much X-Force (2014 4th Series) #1 because of the movie hype surrounding it, but She-Hulk (2014 3rd Series) #1 will be hot for a little bit and turn as cold as ice in an instant. Although X-Factor will escape the clutches of cancelation for a little while longer than She-Hulk will, these two series are going to see no action in the speculative market for the long haul. I cannot urge you enough to stay away from the variants on these comics. If you think for some strange reason that plucking down $60 for either of these top variants will fetch you a return, you’re sadly mistaken. The only savior for the She-Hulk would be a major movie announcement (which doesn’t seem likely in the foreseeable future), otherwise stay away. The smart move here for either the X-Factor or She-Hulk interest is to go after the key book(s). She-Hulk #1 from 1980 is the characters first appearance. This would be the comic to spend a couple of bucks on. As for X-Factor, well you have the X-Factor #1 from 1986 (first appearance as the X-Factor team), but it’s X-Factor #71 (1991) that will be the “go-to” book as the movie details keep dribbling out. Both of these comics; X-Force (2014 4th Series) #1/She-Hulk (2014 3rd Series) #1 will in fact (most likely) show some strong sales right out of the gate, but will see strong declines as they both carry on. Be aware of the history here, especially with the She-Hulk not so much X-Factor.

Marvel gives the speculators a little bit to chew on this week though. Check out Superior Spider-Man (2012) #27. The Goblin Nation storyline begins here. There will be a $100 variant sketch cover that will bring some return as the storyline heats up and Doc Ock is pushed out for the return of Peter Parker. Get the variant CGC signature series’ and collect your profits accordingly. Do not hold onto this comic for a long duration, you will lose money on it. Gauge the market, and strike when necessary.

The new Captain America movie coming this April will feature the Winter Soldier. So Marvel Comics gets the ball rolling with a new Winter Solider comic; Winter Soldier Bitter March (2014) #1. The absolute comic to get before the movie hits is Captain America #6 (2005). THIS comic is recognized as Winter Soldier’s first appearance by CGC, NOT Captain America #1(2005) like many may think. Captain America #6 is money in the bank folks. Get on it now.

Thor will be dealing with Minotaur in Thor God of Thunder (2012) #19. Minotaur first appeared in a comic written by Stan Lee, art by Don Heck, and a cover by Jack “King” Kirby. That comic is The Avengers #17 (1965).

Revolutionary War (2014 Marvel) #4 will pit two UK Marvel characters against each other; Death’s Head and Death’s Head II. Marvel’s UK Death’s Head first appeared in The Transformers (UK) #117 (1987), and Death’s Head II in Death’s Head II #1 (1992). Marvel UK is bringing it.

Kick-Ass 3 (2013 Marvel) #6 will feature the secret origin of Hit-Girl. The issue has a $30 John Romita Jr. Sketch variant. Not a shabby deal at all here. Get a CGC signature series with Romita Jr. or Millar ink on the cover (9.8 grade or higher as always!) and flip it. A Kick-Ass fan will gobble up a Hit-Girl origin issue signed by one of these two creators.

Two number one issues to definitely look out for this week are Fuse (2014 Image) #1 and Royals Masters Of War (2014) DC #1. Both will have strong sales, do not miss them.

Gravel Combat Magician (2014) (Avatar) #1 will follow William Gravel’s next adventure. And just in case this dude ever gets optioned, be sure to have Strange Kiss #1 (1999) in your stash. His first appearance comes from elite writer Warren Ellis. Yes a book to own, just in case.

Others to check out this week; Devil’s Hopyard (2013) #1, Mercenary Sea (2014) #1, City The Mind In The Machine (2014) #1, and Bunker (2014 Oni Press) #1.

……And last but not least, check out X (2013 Dark Horse) #10. This comic will cue us in on a new X origin. X is a very cool comic character that needs to be on your radar.

Invest wisely. Carpe Diem

Thrust into a bizarre, inhospitable world far from home, the all-new, high-adventure, mind-melting, tough-as-nails era of Captain America is NOW! With no country and no allies, what’s left for Steve Rogers to protect? The Saga of Dimension Z begins here!

“Indiana Jones high adventure meets Lee & Kirby-flavored science fiction, as Captain America embarks on the adventure of two lifetimes,” said Axel Alonso, Editor In Chief, Marvel Entertainment. “To survive a gauntlet of challenges so outlandish that only Rick and John could have concocted them, Cap will have to re-examine who he is and what he stands for, and confront an unexamined period in the life of a young man named Steve Rogers.”

Marvel NOW! is the culmination of Marvel ReEvolution, the groundbreaking new initiative to evolve the comic book experience through innovation. With Captain America, Marvel NOW! ensures fans will discover an entirely new perspective in the adventures of Steve Rogers.

“This won’t be Cap getting orders and going off to serve S.H.I.E.L.D., this is going to be Steve dealing with threats he sees and at first he’s a bit reactionary,” explained Remender in an interview with Marvel.com. “He’ll be dealing with the day-to-day and doing his normal thing and when our story opens the inciting incident will change his life so dramatically that in ten issues he’ll be an entirely different person.”

Each issue of Captain America includes a code for a free digital copy on the Marvel Comics app for iOS and Android devices. Additionally, each issue of Captain America features special augmented reality content available exclusive through the Marvel AR app – including cover recaps, behind the scenes features and more that add value to your reading experience at no additional cost.

“Not only does every book with the Marvel NOW! logo feature a new superstar creative team and blockbuster story, but they also come with all-new incentives for our retailer partners,” explained David Gabriel, Senior Vice-President of Sales, Marvel Entertainment.. “We want to make sure every comic shop nationwide is fully stocked to meet the high demand we’re already seeing for Marvel NOW! And want to make sure their voices are heard throughout this exciting time. Stay tuned for more news on how Marvel will be working directly with retailers to make sure our programs address their needs.”

An all-new direction! All-new threats! All-new justice! This is Captain America NOW!

This November, Rick Remender and John Romita Jr. redefine what it means to be a hero in Captain America #1

The Winter changes seasons and becomes The Captain!

Captain America# 1 (Vol. 5)

Captain America # 34 has the NEW Cap making his first appearance. With writer Ed Brubaker at the helm anything is possible with his awesome storytelling, that being said the one thing we all can be almost certain about is the fact that Bucky, AKA Winter Solider will carry the mantle as the new Captain America. If anyone really deserves to carry the name and shield it’s Bucky.

Captain America # 1 (Vol 5) carries the distinct honor of being the first appearance of Bucky as Winter Solider. At a price tag of a measly $6.99 on Ebay, this is an absolute steal right now. Pick this back issue up before the hype machine rolls in. Buying this issue is the first “no-brainer” of 2008. Of course this all depends if Winter Solider indeed is the new Cap, which at this point wouldn’t make much sense if it were not, given the way the storyline has unfolded. This Investment is an extremely low risk given that ALL fingers are pointing to Winter Solider. Sell Captain America # 34 and Captain America# 1 (Vol 5) together on Ebay as a set, you’ll have a set that will compliment each other as well as your bank.

Invest wisely.
