It’s no secret that the comic book industry has its ‘big two’ and that they’re not too fond of one another. Always trying to calculate, outdo the other. On new comic book day release this Wednesday, such a case is in play and for anyone that’s in the numbers game shall get a treat. Into the process of a nerd fight to ask who is better, Spider-Man or Superman? Then this Wednesday could be for you too. Marvel Comics goes with it’s fifth Amazing Spider-Man volume, as DC Comics goes with their sixth Superman volume. So, it’s essentially Amazing Spider-Man #1 vs. Superman #1 this Wednesday. Draw the line, pick a side, it’s on.
While both of these new releases will trend extremely well, let’s highlight the clash of these heavyweights in the image below…..

As you can see, both bring tremendous value to the reader and the collector alike. To us, there are no winners and losers here. Both of these comics will be another notch within their torrid history for each of them. Bringing on a new vision from top creators in the comic book industry. Fans will love these new titles and some, as always, will find something to groin about too. Begrudge a creator or a fan for no reason but to prove their own validity as to why the comic is not a good product. Word of advice, never get involved with that nonsense, move along if you’re not a fan. Move along. Not that hard to do really.
Out of the two comics, the Amazing Spider-Man #1 may trend a bit longer with aftermarket upticks due to the fact there will be an introduction of a new character (and the new creative team). A guaranteed intro according to the Marvel solicit. With the new release, Marvel will accompany a FREE Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Behind The Scenes Edition) at participating shops. This free comic might be the ‘get’ if the new character turns out to be a hot commodity. The special edition features full penciled pages from the regular comic, plus other goodies. It’s very possible a new character can pop up in here too as a precursor to a future first appearance. This will get the speculators in a ridiculous tizzy. Art from Ryan Ottley really helps things along here as well. Nick Spencer, a fantastic writer will hopefully be on the longevity schedule Dan Slott had with his run. That would be…..amazing.
Not too sure what the Superman #1 book will bring, but with Brian Michael Bendis at the helm, one never can tell what surprise(s) could be in store. Joe Prado and Ivan Reis are on art duties. This creative team on this Superman book is simply explosive. Do yourself a favor and check out both of these comics on Wednesday.

Suicide Squad #44

Little Girl #1

Zinnober #2

First appearance alert; Old Man Logan #43 introduces Shadow Tracer.
The X-23 frenzy has subsided a bit since nothing new has come about regarding a solo X-23 movie or another team-up movie. Maybe when Marvel gets full rights to the mutants from Fox, that will change, but for now we have radio silence. The NYX #3 (first appearance of X-23) comic is still way overvalued. A RAW copy sold for a whopping $510 just the other day. Absurd. Yes, ‘rare’ and all that nonsense, still absurd, but it’s money to be made and comics to be had, so good for everyone! This Wednesday, X-23 debuts in her own title, X-23 #1 from creators Mariko Tamaki (writer) and Juan Cabal (artist).
Hey, anyone see that Suicide Squad #44 cover from Guillem March? Reminds you a bit of Venom doesn’t it? It’s a DC Character, not Guillem March’s, still kicks major as*, so it doesn’t really matter.

A few standouts among the hot trending Indie titles; Image Comics’ Farmhand #1 from creator Rob Guillory. Rob starts anew with this series after a tremendous run on the wildly successful Chew comic. Rob will handle both writing and art duties here. Look for this comic to sell out and gain more momentum as the series progresses. Trending on social media already, so word is getting out.
Scout Comics hits another home run with their new dragon related comic; Zinnober #2.

A DC character that’s made only a handful of appearances since (8 to be exact, yeah, yeah more than a handful + 3 digits) 2016/2017 will reappear outside of the Deathstroke universe for the first time. This character is named Red Lion. (insert sarcasm here) boy does this dude look familiar. Can’t seem to place it. Maybe the number one movie (Marvel) at the box office right now? Nah, that’s not it. Anyway, The Red Lion is a main adversary of Deathstroke’s and will appear in Justice League #41 this Wednesday. Red Lion first appeared in Deathstroke Rebirth #1 (2016).
Learn some secrets behind the new Damage character in Damage #3 as Wonder Woman rings in Damage with her lasso. Supposedly some deep secrets here. Maybe having to do with other characters within the DC Universe? Maybe not, who knows? Either way, definitely looking forward to this.
DC delivers the origin of King Rath in Aquaman #34. Writer Dan Abnett and artist Mirko Colak.
There will be an obvious trending comic this Wednesday. That comic will be Weapon H #1. If you need this article to tell you this, well….you’re probably really new at this. So if you’re new, Weapon H is one of these new breakout characters from the Marvel Universe. Weapon H is a mash-up of the Hulk and Wolverine. Weapon H first appeared in Totally Awesome Hulk #22 FIVE months ago (in which we gave fans a heads up on). This first appearance last sold on Ebay for $60 for a raw copy. A raw has sold for upwards of $80 on Ebay. A graded CGC 9.8 sold for a whopping $172. Are we living in the Twilight Zone? So getting back to Weapon H #1. This is the first solo title, second prints will be announced shortly thereafter.

The Cable character is a hot item these days. Marvel will strike while the iron is hot. Cable #155 begins a look at Cable’s past and a possible introduction of a new character to boot. The new creative team of writer Zac Thompson and artist German Peralta bring a new look into this characters past and a start of an important storyline of this character.
The “House of Ideas” sometimes really beat an idea to the ground don’t they? Case in point, the Cosmic Ghost Rider seems to be trending (for now), so what does Marvel do? Well, they make everyone a Ghost Rider! Now the not so informed speculators and other places are pushing the idea that this is a fantastic idea (monetarily) and it will be worth millions one day. The main question one should ask themselves before plucking down $40 or $50 or $80 for a first appearance of Cosmic Ghost Rider or a Weapon H or a Red Goblin is, where will this character be in 5 years? A third-rate character? The modern day Venom attraction? A trending sustainable character that a non-comic fan would know its name? At the end of the day, it’s YOUR money, I’m just here offering things to think about, an opinion. Fun story idea though for what Marvel is doing concerning Ghost Rider at the moment. Although a neat idea, Cosmic GR and a team of Ghost Rider heroes, the idea could fade as does the Ghost Rider lure all the time. A quick punch in the gut, everyone goes nuts and then the dust settles, and no one cares. It’s the Ghost Rider way. It’s the trend. Happens all the time. This week Doctor Strange Damnation #3 showcases Thor, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, Black Panther among others as Ghost Rider based characters. Basically, a flaming skull head on top of their regular bodies. Flame on! Wait, wait wrong dude….
Jane Foster will meet her maker this Wednesday in Mighty Thor #705. Marvel is killing Thor. Killing the Jane Foster as Thor Idea. No reason to cry really. She could make an appearance in another relaunch/revamp of the Marvel Universe or if sales slump a bit in the new (resurrected/continued numbered) Thor series. Either way though, for now, THIS Thor is about to bite the dust. Remember how InvestComics kept telling readers to chillnax on the buying of this Thor at a premium price? Well, you could’ve put that money somewhere else.
Iron Man Hong Kong Heroes #1 features the introduction of a new ironed suited hero. It also features a new Iron Man suit. Writer Howard Wong and artist Justice Wong.
Look for a possible introduction or two in Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #17.
Incredible Hulk #714, World War Hulk II with Amadeus Cho. Really? Okay.
Many comic shops are still limiting customers to ONE copy of the weekly Avengers storyline “No Surrender”. This week’s Avengers #685 is the continuation of the return of the Immortal Hulk, but if you’re looking for a quick buck or think this comic will be anything worthy of a speculation choice, you’d be hard pressed to prove its worth a year from now, or maybe a month from now.

Empress #1 – This “Saga” like comic from Mark Millar will be sold out in no time. Watch for this Marvel imprint from Icon to take off. One of the key components to its success will be that it has to be consistent on its release. Millar’s Nemesis, also from Icon, was a semi-success, but lost many fans because of delays. It could have been a bigger book (should have been), but delays will kill things fast. Empress + on time = success.

Star Wars Poe Dameron #1 – Almost every week InvestComics preaches the gospel about Star Wars comics from Marvel. We say to buy them because they are fantastic reads and for the possible first appearance that may explode at any time. This week we have a character from the latest Star Wars movie making their first appearance in a Star Wars comic. What more do you want here? Okay, maybe have your wife/girlfriend or maybe read it with your kid? That would be cool too.

Justice League Darkseid War Special #1 – Darkseid’s daughter, Grail, will be making her indelible mark within the DC universe this Wednesday. DC might be priming her for bigger things to come. Check out the InvestComics Hot Picks #418 for more info on this and about Grail’s first appearance.

Harley Quinn And The Suicide Squad April Fools Special #1 – One of DC’s all time greatest artist will grace us with his presence in this book. Jim Lee will pencil and do the cover art here. What more do you need? Refer back to the new Star Wars comic if you need more answers on that.

Superman #51 – A new story line begins; Super League. Be on the lookout for possible new villains or heroes in this epic Superman crossover event. We’ll probably say “told you so!”

Showcase #75

Click To Buy Now

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates in purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details)

IC 100 Club Pick: Showcase #75 (1968) 7.0. This comic represents the first appearance and origin of Hawk and Dove. Story, cover and interior art from the legendary man himself, Steve Ditko. A 7.0 grade for only $90, with FREE shipping, gets this beauty in your hands. This a must in your collection.

Look for writer Mark Millar to turn things upside down with the debut of Empress #1 from Marvel’s imprint Icon. It’s already getting billed as Marvel Comics version of “Saga”. And we all know how Saga turned out. Mark will introduce fans to a whole new sci-fi world. Hollywood LOVES Mark Millar and we wonder if Marvel Studios would ever pick this up and run with it. Who knows? It could happen. Either way, this is an introduction comic in the vein of Saga, one to watch for here! This will be big.

The new Black Panther series makes its debut this week; Black Panther Vol 6 #1. The longest running Black Panther series lasted 62 issues. Many limited series, one shots, and team-up books over the span of six volumes for the character. Will this series ever make past 62 issues? We’ll see. But the first issue here is accompanied by an abundance of variants to choose from. Pointless, and the need for 13 different covers (at last count, probably more) is a bit excessive. The creative team makes for a must get though. Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Brian Stelfreeze will bring fans back again and again.

Marvel will introduce a new Star Wars character into their library. Star Wars Poe Dameron #1 will have the first comic book appearance of Poe Dameron. Poe appeared in the latest Star Wars flick and now he makes his way into the funnies. Regular InvestComics readers know how we feel about the Star Wars comics. Buy them all! This one here is so obvious that if you miss it, shame on you! Besides Empress #1, this is the other big Marvel book this week.

Spider-Women Alpha #1 features Silk, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Woman all teaming up. The Stacey Lee variant is sold out.

This week’s Justice League Darkseid War Special #1 will focus on Darkseid’s daughter Grail. A book simmering in the back issue bins on Ebay is Justice League #40 (2015), the first appearance of Darkseid’s daughter Grail. With DC maybe headed towards a Darkseid movie appearance, who’s to say they won’t take a page out of Marvel’s film franchise and include his daughter, a’la Marvel’s Nebula (Thanos). Right now JL #40 might be a gimme at $15….the same price as some worthless variant this week. Maybe getting Justice League #40 instead of a pretty cover makes more sense. Just saying.
There are plenty of DC comic covers by John Romita Jr. to choose from this week. DC is proud to have John Romita Jr. on their side instead of those “other guys”. Some may say or think this is the first time John is playing for the other side, but fans of InvestComics know we’re going to do our research! John Romita Jr. first drew some DC characters back in 1994. Not just “any” characters, he penciled Batman, Robin, Joker, among some others from the DCU. The comic was Batman/Punisher: Deadly Knights. Art by John Romita Jr. and written by Chuck Dixon. John also contributed to the awesome cover. Great comic, great story, Romita Jr.’s first DC work.

While on topic regarding DC’s past history. Bloodlines #1 debuts with writer J.T. Krul and artist Kenneth Marion at the helm. Bloodlines was a huge crossover storyline that took almost 6 months to hammer out back in 1993, spanning from August to December. The very first Bloodlines book was Lobo Annual #1 Bloodlines Outbreak. This comic introduced the Bloodlines Parasites.

Mr. Jim Lee will provide artwork for this week’s winner of the longest comic book title; Harley Quinn And The Suicide Squad April Fools Special #1. Yes, THE Jim Lee will be penciling this comic. The Lee sketch cover is already sold out.

Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five #7 features the first appearance of the NEW Nightwing.
It looks like Superman #51 could possibly introduce some new characters within its major new storyline crossing over all of the Superman titles; Super League Part 1 begins here. Keep an eye out on this series for new characters and villains.
Green Arrow will battle Deathstroke in Green Arrow #51. Fantastic covers from Patrick Zircher (regular cover) and John Romita Jr. (variant).

Grizzly Shark #1 from Image Comics looks interesting. Grizzly Shark first appeared in Sea Bear and Grizzly Shark #1 (2010). This Origin debut comic is written by Robert Kirkman. Ever heard of him? Art from the 2010 and 2016 Shark books; Ryan Ottley.
A new Think Tank series will start this Wednesday; Think Tank #1 (Image Comics). The original series started in 2012; Think Tank #1.

Welcome to the InvestComics Hot Picks for new comic releases on 4-17-13

VillainsInvestComics Media on Blip has finally been completed to its full capacity. There are still some minor tweaks to take care of, but it’s looking as if the transition from InvestComics on Youtube to Blip will start happening now. All videos will now be spotlighted via Blip from InvestComics Media instead of Youtube. If you’re not sure what Blip is, simply put it’s essentially Youtube, but better. That’s it. Visit the new InvestComics Media page on Blip right HERE or click on the red letter ‘B’ logo above. The move is being made for a better platform for our fans.

The InvestComics Publications Facebook page will feature some new artwork from its first release ever ‘The Dawning.’ A couple of pages from penciler and creator David Whalen will be up soon, so be sure to keep an eye on that. Join the InvestComics Publication Facebook page right HERE to keep up to speed.

A new contest is on the horizon. It involves the comic image to the right of this text. Villains United #1 signed by Gail Simone will be won by a lucky fan. The InvestComics interview will go up and fans will have to do one thing to be eligible to win. Share the InvestComics Facebook page. That’s it! Watch out for the video interview this week.

HOT PICKS

[scrollGallery id=244]

The InvestComics Hot Picks involve ten number one issues and a zero issue. Wow right? That’s a whole lotta loving for number one issues in one week. And the crazy part is that it doesn’t have New 52 or Marvel NOW! attached to it. Only a single issue from the big 2 involves the number one fiesta this week. Any cartoon fan of the 80’s will understand this next reference. Do you recall holding up some sort of sword or something that resembled one in the air with both hands held high in the air and uttering the words “I have the power!” Yes, welcome to the birth of a dork. If you are unaware of the reference here, I’m talking about He-Man. Every young boy from the 80’s thought they were He-Man when they uttered those words. This week though, we finally do have the power. With the releases of My Little Pony and Adventure Time doing so well these days, it’s no wonder why DC may jump back into the fray here. (That plus they probably don’t want to lose the licensing on the character, but shhh.). So how much success will He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2013 DC) #1 have this week in the aftermarket? Not much by the standards of past performance, but one never knows in this volatile market. Maybe the He-Man frenzy starts up again this week! Maybe not! But to ensure we all have our eggs in place, we should have the first appearances in order. He-Man first appeared in a minicomic giveaway from Mattel; Masters of the Universe in 1981. Not to be confused with anything pertaining to Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson on the final day this Sunday. She-Ra; which makes here fantastic comeback in the debut ongoing series here first appeared 3 years later in another giveaway. This one named He-Man and She-Ra: Secret of the Sword #1 (1984). So YOU have the power now! You have your debuts and you have the option to pick up the new series.

Very interesting number one issues hit the shelf this week and really should not be passed up at all. Star Wars Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin (2013) #1 from Dark Horse. In this new storyline involving the Star Wars franchise, the story is of an assassination team being formed to take out Darth Vader. The first eight fail and die (of course, it’s Darth Vader!) the man responsible for the hiring of the dead eight seeks the ninth assassin. This has awesome written all over it. Do not miss this issue, if the story lives up to the plot it’s going to fly off the new release shelf. Buy this.

The second interesting numero uno to definitely check out this week is Jirni (2013 Aspen) #1. The writer on this one is bad ass J.T. Krul. Jirni looks to have her assets in order on the covers, but It’s J.T. Krul’s job to make it a point it’s not all about that. Granted, if this were the 90’s Jirni would probably be a hot book for a 6 months and then see an end rather quick, but this is the day and age where you better have substance to justify the means or you’ll fail much quicker. It’s not about the assets anymore. J.T. Krul is a bad ass, he’ll probably bring it and Jirni will be well on her way, assets and all.

Here are some other number one issues not to pass up this week. Bodie Troll (2013) #1, Miniature Jesus (2013 Image) #1, House of Gold and Bones (2013 Dark Horse) #1, Victorian Secret Agents (2013 Antarctic Press) #1, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Villains Micro-Series (2013) #1, Danger Girl Trinity (2013 IDW) #1, Dark Shadows Year One (2013 Dynamite) #1, and one number zero issue Witchblade Day of the Outlaw (2013) #0.

Marvel Comics is at it again with their hyperbole. In Age of Ultron (2013 Marvel) #6, Wolverine is said to make one of the most ‘controversial decisions’ in Marvel History. Okay so that’s 74 years’ worth of Marvel Comics and THIS is going to happen? Hmmm……

Ultimate Wolverine (2013) #3 presents readers with the mother of Wolverine’s son. Ready for this? Project: Mothervine. No really, I didn’t make that up.

Valiant’s Harbinger Wars will start up in their Bloodshot title. Be sure to pick up Bloodshot (2012 3rd Series) #10.

And finally to round out this week we have some loving going on with the X-Men again. The cover to the new Astonishing X-Men (2004- 3rd Series) #61 has Wolverine about to lock lips once again. There have been a slew of these romantic X-Men covers for many years and InvestComics Hot Picks on 10-3-12 covered this. Check out the X-Men Romantic covers article right HERE.

That’s it for this week. Be sure to sign up to the InvestComics Newsletter below. You’ll become cooler instantly. True story.

Invest wisely.

HOT COVERS

ANN NOCENTI to write GREEN ARROW

DC Announces fan favorite ANN NOCENTI will be taking over the writing chores for GREEN ARROW with issue #7. This is the second line-up change for GREEN ARROW, with fill in team Keith Giffen and GA penciller Dan Jurgens stepping in for a few issues to cover J.T. Krul’s departure with issue 4.

Nocenti has written various comics, including street level characters like Batman and Daredevil. She also co-created the lucky interdimensional sometime mutant, Longshot with Arthur Adams.

“I’m thrilled to be taking over Green Arrow. What I adore about the Arrow is his recklessness. He’ll shoot off on an impulse, dispatch someone if they deserve it; his heroism is instinctive. I start with a crazy trilogy that is chock full of surprises. Arrow gets a new woman (and boy, is it complicated), flings himself out of his old life into a new one, and meets a new world class villain. It’s gonna be a wild ride!”

DC Comics: Superman continues to soar with its current storyline. Look for no let up with Superman #707. Wonder Girl #1 will do very well, mostly due to the writing skills of J.T. Krul. Look for this comic to be a possible sleeper hit. If you want to spend an additional $3 besides this book, look for Wonder Woman #105 from 1996 from John Byrne. This issue features the first appearance of Cassie Sandsmark, aka Wonder Girl.

Marvel Comics: Amazing Spider-Man #651 features an 8 page backup story featuring the return of the Mac; Mac Gargan that is. Mac; also known as The Scorpion was first seen in Amazing Spider-Man #20 (1965) from the Spidey Legend himself Steve Ditko. This comic is a very low $1400. Low, because with the Spidey movies about to make a comeback, the Scorpion will not be that far behind. Daredevil Reborn #1 will be a quick sellout, don’t miss it.

The Big anniversary issue this week has to go to Spawn #200. With a ridiculous 10 different covers hitting the shelf. Captain_America_frontpage102710A Death, a trial, and first appearances head the short quick list this week.

A short quick list this week, but so many good reads. Here are a few Comic Hot Picks from InvestComics.

action_comics_894

sandman8_1989_1stdeath_endless_20

Another death this week in the comic book world, well not exactly that kind of death. Death in the form of “Endless” in Action Comics #894. Death makes her way into the realm of the DC Universe. This very popular character first appeared in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman run in Issue number eight 21 years ago. Yes that’s right 21 years ago! If you weren’t around to remember this incredible run by Neil, you need to pick up the trade now! But for now, the first appearance will cost only $20. That’s $1.05 increase per year! Yes that’s not much, but with talks of a Sandman television series coming, this price will increase more than $1.05 per year.

justice_society_of_america_44_MarcGuggenheimScott_KolinsJLA_the_99_1Sticking with DC here, here are a some comics that should be on your watch list this week. Check out Teen Titans #88 for the first appearance of Feral Boys from the new team of J.T. Krul and Nicola Scott. InvestComics Comic Hot Picks 8-25-10

1aaaa1catscrfeverInvestComics has cat scratch fever! Also, check out 2 Bronze Age characters that should be on your radar. All that and more….

1aaaa1actioncomics8921aaaa1shadowlandmoonkight1This week we begin our focus group on 2 extremely underrated characters that have the potential to absolutely break loose in a huge way if ever used to the capacity they are capable of. Now granted, each one of them has had success in their own way, but “really” break out? Not yet. 2 comics come out this week that remind us that these 2 need to get their due. Action Comics #892 & Shadowland: Moon Knight #1.

Let’s start with Moon Knight, well we have six volumes of Moon Knight spanning from 1980 till 2010. Yes some were mini-series, but that just meant Marvel was testing the waters to see how hot the reception might be with the limited series. Instead they received a cool one and never went “live” with a regular ongoing follow up to the minis. Many have said that Moon Knight is a blatant rip-off of DC’s Batman. If you really look at the origins and into the character development of each, It doesn’t seem too much of a rip off at all. You want to talk rip-off? Look at Rob Liefeld’s “SMASH”, now THAT is ridiculousness at the height of just being flat out unholy. Getting back to the White Knight, the recent Vengeance of Moon Knight 1aaaaaa1werewolfbynight321stMOONKNIGHT_1975_GILKANE_ALMILGROM_1001aaaa1moonknight1_2006DAVIDFINCH_VARIANT_161aaaa1marcSpectorMoonKnight55STEPHENPLATT_1993_4series has been faring rather well, the problem is so did the other regular series and they ultimately meet their demise. Writer Greg Hurwitz is doing an amazing job of keeping Moon Knight relevant. As for the art, David Finch is to Moon Knight what McFarlane is to Spidey, Adams is to Batman, Keown is to Hulk, etc. When David draws Moon Knight, his style is immediately recognized much like the “other” Moon Knight artist that MUST get kudos, Stephen Platt. Take a look at Finch’s Moon Knight #1 from 2006 and take a look at Platt’s Marc Spector: Moon Knight #55 from 1993 and you will see exactly why these 2 guys OWN this character. Both of the comics just mentioned are the first Moon Knight work from both of them and can be bought for only $4 each. A nice book to have in your collection is the Variant Moon Knight #1 (2006) from David Finch. It’s the beautiful penciled cover. Here’s the thing fans, if Marvel ever gets Moon Knight firing on all cylinders, and also decides, since THEY have their own movie studios that a film is in order, it’s going to be big. Too long Marvel has clamored for that “dark, edgy” sort of character (Ghost Rider/Blade excluded). If Marvel were to ever go for a strong PG rating (no R here, Disney says so), THIS would be a perfect movie to start with. Speaking of a starting point, a nice place a collector should start would be Werewolf by Night #32 (1975). This would be the very first appearance of Moon Knight, and features a cover by Al Milgrom and Gil Kane. This alone should be worth the price of admission, but at a much undervalued $100, this 1st appearance should be stashed away in your collection.

1aaaa1newteentitans2_1980_GPEREZ_MWOLMAN_48Action Comics #892 features Deathstroke, and he too needs HIS due. Countless appearances and series runs are the makeup of DC’s number one assassin. With DC taking their time in the comic book movie market (lets go people, chop chop) it’s a crying shame we haven’t seen the likes of a Deathstroke on film yet. It’s a crying shame we haven’t seen much of anything from DC actually, but that’s for another time. The New Teen Titans #2 (1980), 1st appearance of Deathstroke from Marv Wolman and George Perez cost ONLY $50?? This is a steal of epic proportions. We all know that DC (WB) will eventually get their act together with the movie front. Why would anyone think that Deathstroke would not be a part of a film someplace, somewhere? He will be, so get $50 together and buy a nice copy of this extremely affordable comic now before Deathstroke becomes a force like he was back in the 80’s.

1aaaa1supermanbatman75Sticking with DC, Superman/Batman #75 hits your local comic shop and will most likely fly off the shelf. This anniversary issue features names such as Levitz, J.T. Krul, Hughes, Kelly, Tucci, and the list goes on. But one name that sticks out is a previously mentioned name in the Moon Knight spotlight in this article. David Finch will be writing and penciling a story for the first time in this issue. This is great news for Finch fans.

1aaaa1namorthefirstmutant1Marvel will be dipping their toe in the pool again, the ocean actually. Namor The First Mutant #1 will be another attempt for Marvel to get this fisherman going. Although a favorite among certain fans, and a very loyal following, do not look for Namor to break through this time. Yes the first issue will sell out (thanks to a sweet Joe Quesada variant cover), but the interest will die rather quickly. Look for this comic to sustain a moderate run, but nothing substantial.

Some very interesting Independents headed our way this week. Let’s do a quick rundown of them. Not too sure which ones are due out exactly. Diamond does not have some of them listed, but check out these titles if you see them on the shelf. Ani-Max #1 from Dynamite Entertainment, this one shot is set to be a cartoon series in the near future. Dracula The Company of Monsters #1 from Kurt Busiek and BOOM! Studios looks like a good old fashioned monster book. Not sure if this next comic has been released yet, but A-10 Comics Presents #1 looks very interesting and deserves a look. A sell out for sure. Scratch 9 #1 from Ape Entertainment Comics is an appealing take on the 9 lives of a cat. This cat will be a sleeper hit so watch out for this one. Bluewater’s Nanny and Hank #1 dives into the vampire fold with a twist. And the last of our Indie’s to check out is the continuation of One with issue #2. Yes that is One #2.
