Trending Comics & More #536…….
A new direction for Superman is making its turn as writer Brian Michael Bendis receives much praise for it. Action Comics #1001, with art from Patrick Gleason will most likely turn up some new fans. This Superman ‘relaunch’ has the potential to bring Clark and the regular cast of characters (and new) to another level as the New 52 Batman did for that character with Snyder/Capullo at the helm. Expect to see Superman trending around your social media feeds for the unforeseeable future. While speculators wait to pounce on that hot new character that will break out of this early Brian Michael Bendis run.
As mentioned here on Trending Pop Culture already, Superman and Spider-Man are battling it out for your attention as Marvel and DC have decided to make ‘major changes’ with the status quo of their respective flagship characters. The new Amazing Spider-Man series from writer Nick Spencer and artist Ryan Ottley is being met with positive vibes. This week’s Amazing Spider-Man #2 features a new villain and a new love interest. But isn’t that Mary Jane on the J. Scott Campbell cover? Hopefully Marvel isn’t taking their ‘relaunch’ of Spidey to a New 52 level. Introducing Mary Jane?! Huh? Probably not, hopefully not, but we’re confident that’s not the route we’re looking at. And the black suit is back?? Yes, that’s ultra-cool. So, make sure you get your hands on this book on Wednesday, because it will sell out.

Mr. & Mrs X #1

The speculators went a bit bonkers regarding the X-Men Gold #30 comic a few weeks ago. Acting as though it to be the next comic to send your kid to Embry-Riddle college or something. The ridiculousness stemmed from the Kitty Pryde/Colossus wedding that never materialized, but instead Gambit and Rouge got hitched! That sounds like and WAS a FUN premise, but the speculators turned this into something that was bigger than it should have been. So what THEY got married instead of the original couple that were supposed to. Why is this a big deal to push this comic as though it’ll be ‘worth’ so much money ten years from now? Newsflash, it won’t be. It’s not Peter and Mary (again), it’s not Clark and Lois (again), it’s not even Logan and Jean. Point being, those are weddings that would and have reverberated for a duration of time, not one week on Ebay and come back to cover price a few weeks later. It trended, now it’s over. Are those speculators willing to buy those extra X-Men Gold #30’s off your hand? If the answer is no (which it is), you’ve been duped and succumb to the nonsense of a speculation market that is out of control these days. Marvel loves it though! So much so, they’ll deliver Mr. & Mrs X #1. The creative team of Kelly Thompson (writer) and Oscar Bazaldua (artist) bring the two lovebirds; Gambit and Rouge together for an all-new romantic/action comic. The newlyweds will disagree about the kids, bills, mortgage, what it eat, their in-laws……oh wait, It won’t be that type of comic. Remember though, 99.9% of the time, your wedding envelopes will never pay for your wedding, but the family and friends abound is priceless. Correlate this into a speculative thought process regarding this comic and you’ll enjoy the heck out of it.
The next big chapter within the Marvel Universe begins this week with Infinity Wars: Prime #1. Lots of changes and maybe we’ll get more info on that mysterious new character named Requiem. We still have no idea who he or she is.

Gail Simone is killing it in the new Domino series. Was there ever a doubt really? Domino #3 features a super special guest star in it as the hard-hitting saga stomps onward.
A new Deadpool comic from two amazing creators hits this week. Deadpool: Assassin #1 from Cullen Bunn and Mark Bagley. Look for this comic to trend among your favorite social media circles and reviewers.
The Hunt For Wolverine: The Adamantium Agenda #2 cover is the modern day Incredible Hulk #340 Todd McFarlane cover. Seriously awesome. Thanks to Greg Land. Beside the cover, lots going within the storyline inside. Look for this comic to appear all over your media feeds and podcasts.
Have to admit, the craze for Squirrel Girl never hit the old site (InvestComics) as much as many may have wanted her to. We just didn’t understand the exact connection with the character and the hype over a possible movie, which we never bought into. Now the first appearance of Squirrel Girl is way over market value and speculative websites or non-speculators want to keep that market where it’s at. A CGC 9.8 sold for $345 in early April. This is absurd. Monies well spent elsewhere, but once again, another reason InvestComics had to switch things up a bit years ago. We knew that Squirrel Girl hype was way overvalued and not going anywhere anytime soon. Either the market is way too early for this comic or it will die by the wayside with someone holding a useless $345 first appearance. With that all said, what to do with a character that doesn’t have as much traction as in previous years? Team her up for the first time with one of the hottest female Marvel characters right now, Ms. Marvel and bam you get an almost sold out comic. Marvel Rising Alpha #1. Brought to comic fans by the talented creative team of Devin Grayson and Marco Failla. The creative team here are the ones driving this comic.

Marvel Two-In-One

Scooby Apocalypse

Starboy #1

Titans Special #1

Marvel Rising Alpha #1

Marvel combines the world of hip-hop and comics once again, but this time with more flare. The Weeknd will get his own comic book created character out of an album named Starboy. A brilliant way to mix the two cultures of music and comics. Starboy #1; writers Christos N. Gage, La Mar Taylor and The Weeknd, with artist Guru eFX. Expect Weeknd fans to jump on this comic as well, causing it to sell out very quick.
Writer Donny Cates is reaching back into time and telling a tale that resembles somewhat of an origin about the Venom symbiote. Make sure to be on board with this trending superstar writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman as everything unfolds in Venom #2.
Thor is back with another number one comic. Original numbering should really stay with these comics. Number one comics are so watered down with these restarts, but they sell because of the number ONE on it. Sell, Sell, Sell! Not crapping on the new series one bit, so no panties in a bunch okay? The new books will probably kick tons of as*. Thor #1 will be written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Michael Del Mundo.
Marvel Two-In-One Annual #1; Chip Zdarsky and artist Declan Shalvey.

Hawkman is back in the DC Universe. The new Hawkman #1 will be brought to you by Robert Venditti and Bryan Hitch.
While writer Gail Simone works the Domino series to a fever pitch, she’ll debut a new series over on the other side of the tracks; Plastic Man #1. Art by Adriana Melo.
Who’s down for a good comic book fight? How about Batman: Prelude To The Wedding – Batgirl vs. The Riddler #1? That’s a long title, no? Who cares? Fight, fight, fight! Tim Seeley and Minkyu Jung.
Find out what happens after the dust settles upon the Scooby team losing their male lead (death of Freddie) in Scooby: Apocalypse #26.
A ‘bold new direction’ for the Titans will begin in Titans Special #1. Writer Dan Abnett and artist Paul Pelletier.

The first appearance of Neo Joker in Batman: White Knight #3 was a big hit. The follow-up and second appearance of Neo Joker this Wednesday; Batman White Knight #4.
DC Comics will start the year off with a “feeler.” They are not completely convinced that Duke Thomas can hold his own in a series bearing his name in a title, so they’ll put out a mini-series first. Batman and The Signal #1 will be the first comic with the Signal name within the title. He does look suspiciously like a red deviled Marvel character these days, but fanboys will have to get a hold of themselves and move past this. Creative team consist of Scott Snyder, Cully Hamner and Tony Patrick. Writer Tony Patrick, creatively, has about six comics under his belt, this is an early gig for him and a big one. The first appearance of Duke Thomas in Batman #21 (Zero Year) was so hot at one time has since cooled off tremendously. Real collectors knew this would happen. With that said, if you have a gut that the Signal character will be “it” in 2018, it’s best to jump back into the Batman #21 (Zero Year) sweepstakes. All in all, The Signal may find a place in the DC Universe in an enormous way, but can easily become one of those characters that equates to elevator music. You know it’s there, but you don’t pay attention to it.

The “Superfriends” story arc takes an issue off as Batman #38 will deliver a fill in story named “The Origin Of Bruce Wayne.” This sounds like a great fill in because it’s from series writer Tom King and not a throw in to fill space. Art by Mikel Janin.

Guardians of the Galaxy #150 will start the new story line; “The Return of Adam Warlock” part 1.
The first Marvel Studios movie of 2018 will be Black Panther. Marvel will get an early head start with the new release; Rise of the Black Panther #1. The comic is based on the secret origin of Black Panther. This comic will be the first work ever by writer (journalist) Evan Narcisse. Also written by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Art from Paul Renaud.

Marvel promises a shocking last page in Captain America #697.
A new story arc begins in Astonishing X-Men #7; “A Man Called X” part one. Writer Charles Soule and artist Ramon K. Perez.
Rogue & Gambit #1; creators Kelly Thompson and Pere Perez.

It’s been a little while since there was a real hot aftermarket Walking Dead comic. Maybe this Wednesday that changes. The Walking Dead #175 will feature a new beginning, new story, new characters, new everything. “New World Order” part one. Fans like NEW and so do collectors.
As InvestComics has mentioned time after time, year after year, if you are not reading Valiant Entertainment comics, you are truly missing out on something special. Check out Secret Weapons #0 this Wednesday from Eric Heisserer and Adam Pollina.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Detective Comics #871 graded 9.6. It’s kind of a rare thing these days to get a JOCK signature. Anyone that follows InvestComics knows how much we love the artist Jock. We have an entire checklist of our favorite works by him right HERE. So this comic is a graded 9.6 with a Scott Snyder and a Jock signature. For only $99, this is a nice book.

Hold on folks, here come the DC Rebirth books. Be on the look out for first appearances. It only takes ONE to breakout and cause quite a stir in the aftermarket. Be on top of these good stories as DC breaths new life into their Rebirth era. Here are some highlights; Green Lanterns Rebirth #1 puts writer Geoff Johns back with artist Ethan Van Sciver on a Green Lantern book. These two make Lantern poetry together. “Newer” Green Lanterns Jessica Cruz (first appearance in Justice League #30 – 2014) and Simon Baz (First appearance was in The New 52 FCBD Special Edition #1 – 2012. First origin was in Green Lantern #0 – 2012) lead the charge here.

A mega four issue comic crossover happens all in one comic this week. Where you ask? Only one comic could pull this off, Deadpool #13. Duh! That Khoi Pham variant cover though…….
Marvel’s Civil War II officially gets under way this week. Civil War II #1 is solicited as “CLASSIFIED”. More of the same with Invincible Iron Man #10. Boy we hate that. Now we have to wait another week before finding out what is so “classified”. The Rafael Alburquerque hip hop cover is dope though. We’ll just stare at that until Wednesday’s new comic book day.

InvestComics Hot Picks:

New Release Comics on 3/25/15 (And back issues)

CLICK any RED Link or Comic cover to Buy/Bid on comics in this article on Ebay

There are so many new speculators coming on board that every once in a while there needs to be a little reminder here on InvestComics as to how this works…..

Just want to urge any new speculators (and veterans too) here to please read the disclaimers that appear in these articles each and every week before proceeding. It’s extremely important in understanding how this weekly modern comic book speculation article works. This is mostly a modern comics speculation article that appears here each and every week. InvestComics will RARELY EVER urge anyone to hold onto a modern book for a profit. We have ALWAYS recommended to hold a Bronze, Silver and or a Golden, but a Modern comic? We want to capitalize as quickly as possible with those. Buy them, bag em’, sell em’. Sometimes this means to take a $20 profit and not a $150 one. It will happen, and that has to be acceptable to the investor. No emotional attachment, just a profit and move along. Get it on the next one. If the investor is inclined to hold onto their comic, there will most likely be a loss. Your portfolio will be in the red and it will get quite frustrating to get out of and into the black. There is absolutely nothing said just now in this paragraph that has not been addressed hundreds of times over the last 10 years InvestComics has been giving away its free speculation advice. We want fans to come here and enjoy themselves first and foremost. That’s always been the main priority. Second priority is to possibly come away with some knowledge you were not aware of when you first arrived here. Third is to possibly turn a profit on some modern books that are recommended here. And the fourth, mostly importantly here is to take that money (besides paying a bill or two – real life stuff) and reinvest in a Bronze, Silver or a Golden Age comic. That is where the true money value is within these articles for 10 years. Again, mentioned over the years here on InvestComics, nothing groundbreaking. That’s it for now on a mini update on how some of this all works.

Darth_Vader_3_InvestComics Darth_Vader_3_InvestComics_Alphra

Silk, Spider-Gwen, Ms. Marvel, She Hulk, Harley Quinn, Powergirl, Wonder Woman and the list goes on. As previously mentioned on InvestComics recently (and about 6 years ago) the female comic book character is seriously making their indelible mark as of late. That’s a fantastic thing and a long time coming too. No more in the background as a secondary character. No more eye candy for that gratuitous chest shot to sell a comic book. Although the sexy covers are still done, they have diminished a bit. The female comic character’s are in such demand for their own independence that Marvel has the A-Force #1 comic coming out to push the proverbial envelope even further. Not stating any of these moves spell for a successful campaign, but it will call for a successful marketing campaign regarding putting the female character front and center. Whether any of the attempts by either of the big two to push the strong woman as a lead will succeed depends on a simple measure. Good story telling. That’s it. Simple, but it’s the only way fans will truly pay attention to any of the movement here. Must have a compelling story. If not, it will fail. Great artwork (eye appeal) will take you so far. The artwork is the initial marketing ploy to draw the consumer eye in. Once in, there must be substance there to sustain the consumer to “stick around”. If the consumer does not connect the dots, the campaign fails. So next time you see that hot comic with “so-so” artwork going (in your opinion), realize that it’s the guts of that book (the writer) driving it home along with the artist. It’s the artist that is solidifying the writers thoughts and impacting the flow of the great story. So in essence the “team” works in tandem and a great book is born. This is all free marketing advice that most pay for in college or through other sources, but for you today….free (thanks Raf for that “free” usage line). So why all of this marketing and female character talk you ask? Well, there could be one of the hottest possible Star_Wars_Droids_2_InvestComicsspeculation comics on the planet coming out this week, so you better be on top of this one. Click this link to Darth Vader #3 and get on Ebay right away if you want to be a part of the next hot book in the aftermarket. Of course your local comic shop will probably have copies, but not for long! So best to click and buy now. The reason to seriously consider getting this comic is for a couple of reasons. The first reason is because of the introduction of a new female character named Aphra. The second is because this is the very first introduction of a any new Star Wars characters within the Marvel Universe since around 1986 when they were introducing a bunch of Droids in Star Wars Droids #2. The art and cover work features John Romita Sr. at the helm for the first five issues. That’s just way too cool isn’t it? Darth Vader #3 will probably be a big aftermarket comic because speculators will not know where Aphra will end up. Will she ever get her own title? Will she be such an in-depth character that fans will demand more? Will she be featured in one of the new Star Wars films? Maybe none of this comes to fruition. This is where most speculators get caught. In the middle. Do I sell now? Do I take a profit? What if the book goes up another $100? The simple answer, who cares? Get your profit (of your choosing) and get out. If you are so inclined to worry about getting the top dollar, buy two copies then. Stash away one and sell the other. But, by doing things like this you run a HUGE risk of having too much inventory, thus creating a negative within your portfolio over time due to the unbalance of the two sides. Too much inventory equates to loss of profit if it supersedes your sell off point of one comic. So in laments terms; If you have a Star Wars #1 variant and sold it for $250, but you have another 20 copies you spent $35 for sitting in inventory, you are actually -$450. You must now hope that the market stays hot (which it mostly does for a very short time). The numbers here are purely made up, the same goes if you buy even two variant comics at a high price or 100 or 50, etc. Sell those variants of hot modern books when you feel they are peeked. An amazing tool coming soon to help speculators with this and it’s called CMV. InvestComics has seen the inner working’s/backend of this glorious comic book speculation tool and it’s a game changer. We are working closely with CMV to be a one and one tandem so that the speculator will have a lot of knowledge within their grasp between the both sites. More on this coming, but for now check out CMV and you will see exactly what the market is doing on certain books. Now back to Darth Vader #3! A great comic to speculate on this week and is easily the top pick in this InvestComics Hot Pick article by far.

Deathstroke_6_InvestComics Deathstroke_8_InvestComics

One of InvestComics’ favorite characters since the inception of the magazine/site has been Deathstroke. We recommended the first appearance of Deathstroke when it was only about $20 at one time. We love the character and as we so often say around here, Teen Titans #2 (1980) is still in buy mode. However, this week Deathstroke seems to have some daddy issues. Check out Deathstroke #6 as his badas* looking dad comes into the mix. Slade’s father first appeared in the previous Deathstroke series; Deathstroke #8 (2012).

Batman ’66 #21 will introduce “Lord Death Man”. This might be a good pick up if you like introductions.

A couple of odd number one comics coming this Wednesday to check out. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad #1 is based on the world famous Disney ride. A comic based on a Disney ride. Yes you heard that right. Some very nice variants too with this one. Click the link, check them out. And Miami Vice Remix #1 from awesome writer Joe Casey. Based on the super hot Miami Vice television series from the 80’s. Two different comics with a lot of fun attached to them probably.

The rest of the number one comics to definitely check out this week are; the confusion of Multiversity Ultra Comics #1 and what is going on with anything pertaining to Multiversity. This number one issue is “groundbreaking” we think in a way we have no way of explaining or knowing why. Extremely confusing, but worth a mention for others to weigh in and help others out! Hit 1957 #1 from Boom Studios looks like an interesting read if you like crime stories. More girl power this week with IDW’s Jem and the Holograms #1. Written by Kelly Thompson. Might be her first comic series series work. A new team based comic from Dark Horse; Pastaways #1 by fantastic creators Matt Kindt and Scott Kolins is worth a look. Bryan J. L. Glass and Michael Avon Oeming team up once again for their latest Mice Templar offering; Mice Templar Nights End #1. We Can Never Go Home #1 from Black Mask Comics looks like a good read.

CLICK any RED Link or Comic cover to Buy/Bid on comics in this article on Ebay

Squarriors #1 showed a lot of interest with fans. Now lets see if Squarriors #2 sustains that interest with readers.

Two sold out comics this week that will amount to nothing more than a novelty item years from now Batman and Robin #40 and Justice League Dark #40, but can be profited on IF, IF, IF one can pull this off. A few things here. A few fans said a couple of weeks ago, how do you get a premier artist like recording artist Prince to sign a comic book? How can you suggest that? The book referred to was the Batgirl Purple Rain DC movie variant. Their were other movie variants also mentioned, but this was one of the few comments sent out regarding this particular book. Here’s the thing. InvestComics suggested that IF one can SOMEHOW pull this off, maybe never, but SOMEHOW pull ANY of these movie variant covers off that we suggest, then kudos to you!! It’s all based on the fun of actually trying to get this done somehow. We never said to go to your local comic convention and get Keenu Reeves to sign your Speed variant cover. We understand he is not readily available to sign a comic book, so please do take these fun suggestions and roll with it. Do not take these in the literal sense. One more thing. A sold out comic DOES NOT equate to automatic money. Walking Dead sells out each and every month, doesn’t mean anything. Too many times, fans are under the assumption that if a book sells out, it’s worth money and a flip can ensue. Not always the case. The flip happens when demand exceeds supply or when demand wants to hoard more copies. A sold out comic means nothing in the aftermarket if there is no substance. Will you pay $600 for a Star Wars #1 variant right now? Why not? It’s sold out right? Yes sold out and plenty of copies to go around. Plus more importantly, nothing of interest for the speculator to hold onto regarding that comic on the inside. A first appearance? A death? A possible movie character? A hot new artist? Writer? None of the above here. What you do have is a good read. That in itself should be good enough. It’s ultimately up to the individual (as always) to determine what sold out comic is worth pursuing and capitalizing on. Get the book on Ebay right away and take profits on moderns. That’s some of the best advice InvestComics can offer you. If you love, you will lose. This is why tradepaper backs were created. Read those, love those.

Batman_Robin_Harry_Potter_InvestComics Justice_League_40_InvestComics

Now back to the DC movie variants this week. Get a hold of Daniel Radcliffe or Ralph Fiennes or any of the other major players in the Harry Potter movie to sign your Batman and Robin #40 book. Be sure to have that witness and get it graded. This is the only way you’ll have that one of a kind awesome comic. If you happen to run into Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin or Genna Davis, have them sign your Justice League Dark #40 comic. Same here applies; witness/graded. Michael has been a round some shows over the years so maybe that signature is feasible? Nah! Still a hard get. But fun to try!

Invest wisely. Read comics.

Carpe Diem.

This is in fact an entertainment/speculative site. Bottom line though, we have and always will be the best speculative web site on the planet.

What you read is 100% authentic. This material is 100% original content from InvestComics and does not borrow from any article(s) or comic website(s) for its content. Anything you read  from here on any other site that seems similar probably and most likely originated from here.

No_Fanboys……And please please lets enjoy the time here. No fanboys please. And if  there are any inaccuracy’s, it’s okay we’re human. Be sure to help us out and correct anything without a fanboy or hater hat on. Reminder: any speculative opinion is and cannot be inaccurate. It’s a guess.
