Absolute Batman #8 by Bruno Redondo doesn’t need the word “Batman” spelled out. That’s because Batman is the word. Literally. He’s lurking behind every massive letter in the word “Absolute” like a shadow with branding. The red background plays off Batman’s black-and-grey redesign perfectly, and the minimal white outline of the title completes this powerfully cinematic poster-quality cover. Redondo doesn’t miss. Ever. The Immortal Thor #23 by Alex Ross brings in Jane Foster looking like a Norse god ad for determination. Ross deploys his signature “mid-victory flex” angle, and Jane looks up toward the heavens like she’s already defeated you. It’s glossy, mythic, and exactly what you expect from Ross—which is why it works every time. Daredevil #21 from Sergio Davila has zero chill. The new female Daredevil has her leg high in the air flying toward Matt Murdock’s head while he gracefully ducks. It’s an action panel frozen mid-explosion, and Davila delivers tension in one image that’s more dynamic than most full issues. Red Hulk #4 by Jonboy Meyers is all power, no subtlety. Hulk’s smashing through the title letters like he doesn’t even care there’s a fourth wall. Jonboy turns it up to eleven with massive muscles, pure rage, and a sense of scale that could use its own zip code. It’s absurd in the best possible way. DC vs. Vampires: World War V #9 by Bjorn Barends looks like the kind of cover that bites back. Literally. Vampire Wonder Woman (we think?) is screaming mid-attack, fangs bared, weapon ready to ruin your whole night. The energy is pure chaos and bloodlust—Barends continues to make “end of the world” look like peak style. King Spawn #45 by Puppeteer Lee makes full use of Violator’s worst traits. He’s big. He’s round. He’s grinning. And he looks like he’s one minute away from turning the entire page into a crime scene. Puppeteer Lee embraces the grotesque and brings it into horrifying focus. Gwenpool #1 from Greg Land delivers a darker Gwenpool with full attitude. One claw’s up in a not-so-friendly pose, and the other’s coiled back, ready to land some panel-breaking damage. Gwen’s making eye contact with you, and it’s not affectionate. Greg Land gives her menace, snark, and just enough mystery to make this one pop hard off the shelf. Flash Gordon #9 by Will Conrad tricks you at first. A romantic gaze between lovers. But look on the wall—those shadows? Yeah, she’s about to stick him with an arrow. Conrad tells two stories at once and neither ends well for Flash. Dangerously clever.
