The Cosmic Ghost Rider character is still ‘riding high’ with the Marvel and comic book fanbase. No signs of him throttling down anytime soon. So, what will Marvel present to its faithful CGR fans after the successful debut last month? How about….Space Sharks! Yes, that’ll grab the attention of fans. Cosmic Ghost Rider #2 with an appearance of Space Sharks! Check out that crazy Geoff Shaw shark cover too. That’ll get some airplay around social media for a little bit. And for the speculators wondering, this is not the first appearance of Space Sharks. They first appeared from legends Chris Claremont (writer) and Dave Cockrum (artist) in 1982’s Uncanny X-Men #162. Hey, they can’t all be home runs, right?
Ant-Man & The Wasp #4 follows our heroes within the Microverse and back to reality. The thing is every time they come back they come back with newer/different powers. This issue shows us some of the side affects of going back and forth from one parallel to the other. Maybe they’ll shoot rays out of their eyeballs now. Or maybe be more like Jeff Goldblum from the fly and they both start mutating/morphing into their respective insects somehow. That’s probably more of a What If? story, but hey never know!

Adv of Super Sons #1

Click on the RED links, Images/comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay

Well, Super Sons will start anew this week with a new number one issue. What’s wrong with just continuing within the continuity of the original series instead of starting with a number one issue you ask? Answer is simple, DC and Marvel and many, well all, of the indie companies have figured out that they are catering to the collector’s market more so these days then not. That’s why. Deny all you want old scholler’s or nostalgic mutants, there is no other way to explain the constant restarts. Oh, still not convinced? How about a bazillion (being obsessive here, obviously) variant covers that accompany the said number one issue? Yes, catering to an over-bought market, but that’s okay because companies need to make their money to pump out their content. Eventually the tide will turn once again once the modern market dries up a bit. ‘Modern speculators’ will eventually realize that the brand-new comic on the shelf on Wednesday that cost them $40 because of a ‘pretty’ cover will most likely amount to a cover price comic sooner rather then later will wise up. Once that happens, things will change back to somewhat normalcy without the pointless variant covers, which in turn may slow down the ‘number one’ being such a draw to the sell. But for now, we move along to Adventures Of The Super Sons #1 this Wednesday. It will be a fantastic book regardless of the aforementioned banter. That banter has nothing to do with the quality of the content in most books. Writer Peter J. Tomasi is back with artists Carlo Barberi and Art Thibert.

With countless appearances as the second or third wheel, Marvel will try their hand again at a Man-Thing solo series. Fanboys will inform others how great this character is and not realize that the longest duration a Man-Thing series ever lasted was 22 issues. We’re not saying Man-Thing is not a cool character, what we’re saying is to not get too vested in the series. Writer Chris Claremont couldn’t even save the 1979 series from cancelation. History has left fans holding the last issue of a Man-thing series in their hand asking themselves when will the next issue arrive and it never does. However, with all that said, one big factor with the 2016 Man-Thing #1 release is the writer. R.L. Stine. This man is a bestselling horror novelist (the ones with no pictures). Google him if you do not know the name. He will be the one to make this title an interesting read, we almost guarantee this. Not only will he write the series, but he’ll be writing a new horror story after the regular Man-Thing story. What happens once he leaves this title is a different story. If Marvel happens to snag Stephen King to write a few issues, we’ll have something going again. Granted any writer may step up to the plate and knock it out of the park, but there is a reason this character’s longest solo venture was only 22 issues. He’s not a sustainable, memorable character that readers really care about. We unfortunately are doomed for history to repeat itself here, but before that happens, let’s enjoy the R.L. Stine run. Okay Man-Thing fanboys, take your Xanax now, you’ll be alright.
Not only will Gwenpool show off her a sword and shield skills in Gwenpool #13, but that Venomized cover is crazy good. Kudos to Yasmine Putri.

Here’s the thing with Marvel’s ‘Venomized‘ covers. A lot of these covers could essentially become the first appearance (cameo) if Marvel decides to revisit one of these Venomized characters in the future. Some of the Venomized looks are absolutely on point, some are just okay. The Gwenpool Venom is on point.

Fantastic Four #254 (1983) – As with most comic book characters, there is always one creator that defines the character to the point that the majority of collectors will associate that particular character with “them”. Batman/Miller, Spider-Man/McFarlane, Green Lantern/Adams, Nick Fury/Steranko…..you get the idea. We’re not putting She-Hulk on the scale of those characters, but the creator is the one we’re talking about here. This comic is the first time John Byrne writes and draws She-Hulk in a comic book. Byrne/She-Hulk.

Avengers #233 (1983) – John Byrne fill in issue. It also happens to be part of his Fantastic Four #254 story. John writes and John draws. He doesn’t do the next issue and he didn’t do the previous issue. What John wants, John gets.

Thor #334 (1983) – Jennifer first appears in a Thor comic, with her Avengers team of course. Three issues later though, The Thor character will never be the same. Going from a B-lister to an A-lister, but that’s another story for another day.

The Thing #5 (1983) – John Byrne writes. She-Hulk appears in several issues of the Thing, starting here. Appearing in a solo role.

Marvel Comics Presents #18 (1989) – She-Hulk story written and drawn by John Byrne.

Sensational She-Hulk #1 (1989) – Origin retold. John Byrne start the second series. Writer/artist here. Awesome Byrne cover here as well. Actually, from here on out every single John Byrne She-Hulk cover in this series is stellar. The number one cover here still remains as one of the most iconic She-Hulk covers of all time. This series acted as the modern day Deadpool series does today. Breaking the fourth wall and complete zany-ness. John Byrne’s run here was simply a work of art in every sense of the word. If a television show ever hits, this comic (series) might be the place to go as far as speculation is concerned. We feel that the TV series (total speculation here) would be based more from here and not the first series. Again, we’re speculating and could be completely incorrect. No one knows. Invest wisely!

Sensational She-Hulk #2 (1989) – First appearance of Weezi Mason.

Marvel Age #76 (1989) – As a growing trend for quite a while, Marvel or John Byrne loved putting Jennifer in a bathing suit on his covers.

Sensational She-Hulk #39 (1992) – And another awesome cover from Byrne.

Sensational She-Hulk #40 (1992) – The first appearance of Marvel Editor at the time Renee Witterstaetter as herself. Renee has done a ton of writing and coloring on top of her editorial work. She’s often seen at Michael Golden’s booth at your local convention. The cover here….wow. Why was John Byrne so into sexually exploiting the She-Hulk on so many covers?? They must have sold well to the fanboys. This issue is the most expensive aftermarket comic in the entire Sensational She-Hulk. More than the corrective color issue a few issues back.  A scarce book here drives up the price and one of the last sexual innuendo covers in this run. John Byrne officially runs into the “political correctness police”. Pushed the envelope too far according to Marvel standards we guess.

Sensational She-Hulk #41 (1992) – The first time creator John Byrne appears (as himself) in the She-Hulk series.

Marc Spector: Moon Knight #41 (1992) – The first time Jennifer appears in a Moon Knight comic.

Quasar #38 (1992) – It’s not so much that She-Hulk appears in this Quasar series for the first time. Really who cares? For now maybe. But this comic was drawn by none other than Greg Capullo.

Sensational She-Hulk #50 (1993) – The 50th anniversary issue. 48 pager. John Byrne loads the book up with guest appearances from a number of Marvel characters. This issue would be the last Byrne issue as Jennifer looks for a new creative team to take over her comic series. John Byrne appears in this issue and says that this comic should die (be canceled) due to the fact he’s not on it anymore.

Sensational She-Hulk #52 (1993) – This issue features an Adam Hughes cover!

Sensational She-Hulk #54 (1993) – The first official appearance of Jennifer’s momma into the Marvel universe; Elaine Ann Banner Walters.

Sensational She-Hulk #60 (1994) – The series ends here. It was a good ride. 60 issues. 14 years later. Penciler and Cover artist Pat Olliffe pays homage to John Byrne’s number one issue cover. Fantastic job here from Pat. Sorry to see you go Jennifer!
