For each issue that arrives within the Edge of Venonverse, we will keep a constant reminder of how one of these issue could be a potential major breakout for a new mash-up character. This week’s Edge of Venomverse #3 is no exception. The introduction of Host Rider. That’s Ghost Rider and Venom mashed-up for those not in the know. Although this really isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Venom host take over Johnny Blaze. Back in 2012, the story-line ‘Circle of Four’ in Venom #13.4 saw the host take over and combine the Red Hulk with Ghost Rider. Red Hulk Rider? Ghost Hulk? Yes, this really happened. Bottom line, get each issue of the Edge of Venomverse as they arrive. You never know when one of these mash-ups will explode in the aftermarket, if ever. More importantly though, you’re getting a sweet story and art by Tigh Walker.
Batch X makes its move of several players in Weapon X #6. Weapon H (aka Hulk/Wolverine) will be arriving soon so says Marvel in Totally Awesome Hulk #22. This comic, with that ridiculous title still, will be flying off the shelf when it arrives. Get an early jump on Ebay right HERE (some available early). As always, from ALL available Ebay sellers.

New story begins in Blue Beetle #11 with the introduction of a new character named Ghostfire. Writers Keith Giffen/J.M. DeMatteis and art by Scott Kolins.

A super limited-edition comic from Coffin Comics; Lady Death: Zodiac #1. From the awesome artistry talent of Nei Ruffino and will be signed by Lady Death creator Brian Pulido. Written by Bob Varderman. Only 200 available. (Update:) We’re not even sure if this is a new release this week. We saw it on some new release sheet someplace, but it could be a re-release or an older book. Who cares though? Still a cool book.
In case you haven’t noticed lately or maybe in the last few years actually, Valiant Entertainment are strictly bull market. Google ‘bull market’ if you do not get the reference, but yes Valiant is moving onward and upward. Searching for a comic with great art? Great storytelling? Yes, Valiant Entertainment should be a place to begin. Speaking of a place to begin, Faith And The Future Force #1 from writer Jody Houser and artists Stephen Segovia & Barry Kitson comes to stores on ncbd.

Also from Antarctic Press this Wednesday; Super Secret Robot Club (one shot) from Matthew Spradin & Casey Edwards and Sidewinders #1 from writer/artist Dennis Chacon plus various.
It seems the Transformers bug has bitten Mark Wahlberg hard enough to make him produce a comic book for Vault Comics. We’re cool with that, Mark seems like a chill dude and makes entertaining movies. Alien Bounty Hunter #1 will be written by Adrian Wassel & David M. Booher, with Nick Robles pencils.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Batman The Cult #1 (1998) 9.8. Here is a classic Batman story told in four issues from two of the industries best in the biz. Writer Jim Starlin and artist Bernie Wrightson have their hands on this series. They also have their hand in actually signing the cover of this fabulous comic. A MERE $79.99 price tag for two legends of the industry signing the cover here. This is a beauty at that price, for this grade. Buy this now, here, before it’s gone forever. This will be a sure fire collectors item 25 years from now. Jim and Bernie are comic book industry legends because of their styles and the way they told their stories. The industry has learned and follows these two giants because of their amazing talents. This is an amazing book to own. Period.

Marvel readers be warned, New Avengers #16 will bring some big time twist and turns within the pages of this book on Wednesday.

InvestComics has a serious influence on the comic book market and industry. Sorry haters, but the truth be told. We mentioned the first issue of Spider-Man Deadpool #1 as a no-brainer speculative/read comic quite a while ago. We predicted a sell out. Naturally (and obviously) this happened. It’s on its 8th printing. As each issue came out we told fans to keep getting each issue. Not only because the series was a well written, action packed book, but the fact that each issue kept selling out. We stated this phrase; “…..each book in this series keeps selling out, so get on top of this…” Well guess who now uses that line as part of their “up-sell” of this series? Yes you got it, Marvel does! You’re welcome guys/gals! So with all of our gloating and patting ourselves on the back out of the way, we arrive to Spider-Man Deadpool #9 this week. Itsy-Bitsy first appeared in the last issue, find out who or what she’s about this coming Wednesday. As for the series? We’re still in the bull market here (bullish). Hey Marvel…….”We’re still in bull market mode regarding the Spider-Man Deadpool series”. It’s okay, you can use it if you’d like, just some credit this time maybe?? And hey Image Comics, the same to you! C’mon guys! Relax fanboys, just having fun here. Save your thread messages and emails, we never listen to what you have to say anyway.

Doctor Strange And The Sorcerers Supreme #1 will debut in late October. It will feature the first appearance of some characters on the new team Doctor Strange will put together. Marvel clued fans onto this info a while back, but it looks as though fans may get the first appearance(s) happening a bit earlier in this week’s Doctor Strange Annual #1. The Sorcerers Supreme team may appear in this book before their ‘official’ debut a few weeks later in late October.
Deadpool Annual #1 will feature his ‘Insufferable Pals’. Those pals will be Firestar and Iceman. This annual is obviously spoofing on the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends #1 from 1981, which happens to feature the first appearance of Firestar in Marvel’s continuity.
Spider-Gwen #12 pits Spider-Gwen against the Punisher. Should be a fun fight! Go Frank! (Did we say that out loud?). A very cool B&W Baltimore Comic Con variant exist of the regular cover on Ebay. Be sure to check that cover out too when you click the link.
Cosplay guru Riki ‘Riddle’ Lecotey has sold out her Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #12 variant cover. Kudos Riki!

Writer Dan Jurgens and artist Ryan Sook bring fans the new Batman Beyond Rebirth #1 title. The delayed Blue Beetle #1 comes out this week. This book is brought to us by Keith Giffen (writer) and Scott Kolins (pencils).
A few weeks ago, readers learned more about the villain Harley Sinn. Find out who Harley Sinn actually is in the revealing of her identity in Harley Quinn And Her Gang Of Harleys #6.
Deathstroke writer Christopher Priest continues to make his title a go-to book each month. Deathstroke #3 brings Rose Wilson (The Ravager) front and center. Rose Wilson (Ravager) first appeared in Deathstroke The Terminator #15 (1992). A very affordable first appearance…..at the moment. And check out the awesome Shane Davis variant. The Ravager looks fantastic. And also, have you seen our Deathstroke checklist that came out in May 2015 on InvestComics? It’s quite the extensive list. Not only will Valiant Entertainment’s X-O Manowar #50 be a spectacular 64 page anniversary issue, but the variant covers that will accompany this issue are gorgeous. We’ve narrowed down to four covers we love the most, but readers should, without a doubt get a copy of X-O Manowar #50 this Wednesday no matter which cover! Here are the four covers we dig the most; Kaare Andrews, Chip Zdarsky, Shane Davis and Phil Jimenez. The Phil Jimenez variant cover is an Amazing Spider-Man #583 homage. A cover he actually did himself! Valiant Entertainments new team book Generation Zero is making some noise. Readers should definitely be on top of Generation Zero #2. This series will gain momentum as the issues come out, be on top of this one.
Eric Powell continues to destroy any hope in getting first prints of his new hit series; Hillbilly. It looks like Hillbilly #3 will sell out by the time you reach the end of this article. Actually, nope, sold out already. Best get your copy off the rack if you want one.

The John Watkiss cover from Surgeon X #1 will turn some heads on the new release wall. Then look for readers to love it because Sara Kenney will deliver a unique comic unlike anything else on the market. A possible sleeper hit, be sure to pull this one off the rack. The best part? No variants, just one cover!

Writers Marguerite Bennett/Cameron Deordio, along with artist Audrey Mok bring the new Archie Comics title Josie And The Pussycats #1. Archie’s new television series will bring the ratings and the fans (and new fans) along with it. We think the Archie series will do extremely well, so you better have those Archie comics in order. We put out an Archie Comics checklist back in January of 2015. You can click HERE to get an early start on your Archie collection. Below you will see the covers for Archie Pals N Gals #23 (1962); first appearance of Josie and Josie And The Pussycats #45 (1969); First appearance of Josie and the Pussycats. IDW Publishing will continue their ‘Revolution‘ crossover event in a few titles this week.
It’s an election year, so American Mythology publishing has your back. Check out Three Stooges Red White & Stooge #1, featuring a “Vote For…” cover for each stooge.

Another sleeper cell this week will be Sentient #1 (Hermes Press). Writer M. Zachary Sherman and artists Emmanuel Xerx/J. Brown on this one. More of the same here as with Surgeon X #1. A different type of story will bring interest from fans once word gets out. A sci-fi/thriller type story that’ll have you coming back.

Alpha Flight #1

Click to Buy Now

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Alpha Flight #1 (1983) 9.6. This is the classic John Bryne Alpha Flight #1 from 1983. It features the first appearance of Puck and Marrina, as well as the origin of Alpha Flight. It has a buy it now price of only $46.75. Not a bad price at all for a 9.6.

Deathstroke #1 volume four begins this Wednesday. Look for Deathstroke fans to flock to this series as writer Christopher Priest will bring in new readers as well.
John Constantine will return this week; Hellblazer #1. Writer Simon Oliver and artist Moritat bring the new story.
Jaime Reyes, A.K.A. Blue Beetle will get his own series starting this Wednesday. Jaime’s first appearances as himself and as BB are very easy finds and extremely easy on the wallet too. Infinite Crisis #3 (2006) is the first appearance of Jaime Reyes. It takes Reyes two issues to get his gear together and in Infinite Crisis #5 (2006) he first appears as Blue Beetle. The creative team of Blue Beetle Rebirth #1 consist of legend Keith Giffen (writer) and Scott Kolins (art).
A disturbingly awesome Steve Dillon cover on Sixpack And Dogwelder Hard-Traveling Heroz #1 peeks our interest on what the inside may bring. Writer Garth Ennis and artist John McCrea return to their Section Eight creation. Garth and John first created Six-Pack back in 1996 – Hitman #9. Dogwelder(2) first appeared in Convergence Harley Quinn #2 (2015).

DC warns readers to prepare themselves for the last page in Detective Comics #939. Check it out and no reading at the new release comics wall! Get out da way!
The H.I.V.E. Queen plans on getting under the Teen Titans’ nerves in Teen Titans #23. In a long line of new 52 characters and new female comic characters, H.I.V.E. Queen is kinda neat. Check out her first appearance in Superman #21 (2013). We’re not too sure if that issue is a cameo or not, so be sure to check out Superman #22 (2013) as well. It’s always a good thing to be alerted that Spider-Man will fight Venom. So here’s your alert. Venom Space Knight #11; Spidey vs. Venom. Has Spidey fought the “Space Knight” Venom though? Is this a first?
Deadpool #17 features the villain Madcap. The Deadpool comics have a knack of reviving comic characters from the past no one either cared too much for or forgot about altogether. So with that said, Madcap’s first appearance was in Captain America #307 (1985).

InvestComics informed our readers about Scout Comics’ Once Our Land #1 a few weeks ago and it sold out right after our article was released. An immediate aftermarket sensation and Once Our Land #2 will be no exception. Watch as this issue goes into immediate demand as well this week.
From Chapter House Publishing this week comes Northguard #1. Coming from the pages of their other Canadian hero Captain Canuck. To find Northguard’s very first appearance though, you’d have to go all the way back to 1984’s New Triumph Northguard #1 from Matrix Graphic Series. There’s a few available on Ebay.

Comic book writer extraordinaire; Greg Pak, turns up a new western style comic; Kingsway West #1. Get this comic from Dark Horse Publishing. Art by Mirko Colak.

MAJOR SPOILER POSSIBILITY AHEAD. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, SKIP THE FIRST TOP 5 PICK RIGHT NOW.

Before Watchman #4 (2013) – Rumors abound regarding the new DC Universe Rebirth Special #1 comic coming this Wednesday is sparking MAJOR interest in this 2013 Watchmen comic. Total speculation is driving this comic a bit out of control in the aftermarket. Don’t get caught on the high-end of this move because when the dust settles, we’re looking at another ordinary comic that brings a major change within the DC Universe. Some may say, “well isn’t that important though?” Well yes and no. It’s important in the here and now, but who’s to say there isn’t another DC overhaul 3 years from now and that the major Watchmen involvement now is completely erased/meaningless. This Before Watchmen #4 comic, a possible $100 book soon, will be worth nil to cover price very fast in a few years time if DC gets tired of their “game-changing” idea. If you’re in the market for a long haul here, you want to NOT do that. Not saying there isn’t possible monies to be made here, but other sites won’t tell you this; they’ll go on the basis of how much money it’s making at the moment, which is fine, but a wise investor always looks 5, 10, 15, 47 steps ahead. Be that guy, not the fanboy.

DC Universe Rebirth Special #1 – A lot of hype surrounding this comic. A few other surprise nuggets in here that we won’t speak about, but it’s the above mentioned that’s gaining the most attention right now.

Deadpool #12 – Marvel introduces Zenpool 2099.

Scooby-Doo Apocalypse #1 – The new look Scooby-Doo series looks fantastic. Brought to us by superstar creators writers by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis, and art by Jim Lee. This will be a fun read and a dynamic change of pace from what fans know of Scooby-Doo.

Daredevil #7 Apocalypse – The Khoi Pham variant cover is simply awesome. Nuff said.

DC begins their new take on their own universe this Wednesday……again. Haven’t we been here before? Maybe this time will be different and stick for a while. It’s always good to be an optimist. So the DC Universe Rebirth Special #1 comic will be THE comic to start the proverbial ball rolling. The solicit warns readers not to jump to the back of the story (comic). This reveals one thing (most probable/speculation) that there is a big unveiling about to occur. We’re looking forward to this, so should you. Don’t be a whiny fanboy, you’ll eventually read DC Comics if you’re on a strike campaign against them, so why not just pick this comic up and see where DC will be headed?

The Fearsome Five make their return this week in Teen Titans #20. Their first appearance was back in 1981; New Teen Titans #3. Written/drawn/cover by George Perez. And many other great talents as well!

Huge grand finale from DC coming this week. Check out the conclusion to the DarkSeid War in Justice League #50.

As we said with the first new look DC/Hanna Barbera release; Future Quest #1. We love the change, the risk of updating old, mundane, boring characters into modern times. Hear’s a message to the complaining fanboys, who don’t even READ the Scooby-Doo comics, who had a lot to say regarding the new look, new take, new mature theme of the Hanna-Barbera characters. Get over it, seriously. When was the last time you saw one of these fanboys actually buy a Scooby-Doo comic, read it, and then talk to their other fanboy friends about how great it was? Yes, we know that actually DOES exist in some cases, so please no emails or comments on our social media about the few we are speaking of. We’re not saying it doesn’t exist, just saying it’s far a few between that an all ages comic book is read by a 25 year old fanboy, but yet the ones that DON’T read it are the ones yelling the loudest. Simmer down. Scooby-Doo Apocalypse #1 will happen with or without you. Too bad. As for the route fans may use about not having any original material for kids to read regarding Scooby-Doo…..really?? Scooby Doo comics date as far back as 1970, plenty of comic material to pick up on before your child hits their teenage years. So it’s more about YOU than it is about them.

Now let’s get to the Scooby-Doo Apocalypse #1 comic. Written by Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis, and Jim Lee. The character designs are from Jim Lee. Keith and J.M. are veteran writers and always bring it. This comic has all the makings of a hit, but could fall flat on its face because sometimes things don’t always work out just because things “look cool” or have an all-star creative team. Hopefully the hype meets the readers and we get the hit we all expect. A plethora of variant covers will release on new comic day with this arrival. The Jim Lee regular cover is quite nice, but the Neal Adams, Ben Caldwell, and Joelle Jones covers are on point.

Another year, another Captain America number one issue. This time he has a new shield! Will this equate to more sales?! Probably not, but the return of Steve Rogers as Captain America in his own title; Captain America Steve Rogers #1 should peak some interest. Oh look at that, just an awesome legend giving fans a Cap cover. Mr. Jim Steranko everyone, step aside.

Another week, another Deadpool comic within the InvestComics Hot Picks article. Fans will see the return of Deadpool 2099 in Deadpool #12. We gave you a heads up on the first appearance of Deadpool 2099 (Warda Wilson & Wade) a few months back in Deadpool #6 (in which the cover completely mirrors the new release here). In the latest Deadpool issue, we’ll witness the first appearance of Zenpool 2099. Zenpool (without the 2099 attached) first appeared in Deadpool #36 (2014 – third volume). The Squadron Supreme character Nighthawk manged to get his own solo comic this week. Kind of a random dude to get his own comic, right? Anyway, the Nighthawk #1 Bill Sienkiewicz/Denys Cowan regular cover would have sufficed (because it’s so awesome), but instead we get 4 other covers for an easy overkill. The first appearance for THIS particular Nighthawk was in Supreme Power #2 (2003).

Marjorie Lui continues her hit series this week with Monstress #6. If you’re not buying this comic by now, we’re not sure why you’re not. You should be.

All of Creature Entertainment’s Tommy #2 variants are sold out. Have you seen our giveaway we’re running for the ComicXposure Exclusives; Tommy #1 and Forgive Me Father #1? Click HERE to see how you can enter for a chance to win BOTH comics from InvestComics.

Aquaman, seven series number one issues, two of which were limited series. None of the regular series made it past 77 issues. What does this mean exactly? Well it means that Aquaman was never a character taken very seriously. Always on the receiving end of the joke. Nowadays things are a bit different (many thanks to Geoff Johns), although the character still holds the stigma of being a lame duck in many circles, Warner Brothers will be going all in with a solo movie release. Rumor has it that he’ll first appear in the Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice first, then we’ll see the solo movie a couple of years later. It’s then we’ll see if the world is truly ready for a live action Aquaman movie.

It was writer Geoff Johns that vowed to make Aquaman a cool character. He’s achieved this feat with many naysayers saying it couldn’t be done. Now the transition to film will be the defining moment for the most powerful water character in the entire DC Universe.

Below are some key Aquaman appearances throughout the years. First appearances, number one issues, appearances in other comics, etc. Debuting from 1941, there are plenty of comics to look for here. Plenty of affordable books along the way here too.

Please remember as always here on InvestComics, read the disclaimer. With that said, there will in fact be books that are not on this list. They were probably inadvertently missed. No problem, list your favorite book below or in the comment section in one of our social media outlets. Also remember that the Aquaman movie comes out in 2018, there are no right or wrong answers here.

Hot Picks based on new comics coming this Wednesday 6/24/15

So what exactly will Marvel’s cinematic Phase 4 look like? Here are a couple of potential plot lines, one of which was mentioned here on InvestComics quite a while ago. And the way the rumors are swirling and the movies are possibly lining up, it’s probably coming to fruition. But we’ll get to that potential in a little bit because we want to get to our newer speculation on Phase 4 or maybe part of the next Avengers phase first.

The speculation has to to be met with a huge entity to battle on the screen. The Avengers cannot battle Juggernaut because that wouldn’t make for a compelling movie. The fight would last one scene. And Fox owns the rights, but that’s another story for another day. Galactus? Oh wait, another story, another day. How about Korvac? Yes. Korvac caused a lot of problems back in the late 70’s in the Avengers title. So much so that the Guardians of the Galaxy (not the present team) showed up in an Avengers title to help out. Avengers #167 was the first time the Guardians of the Galaxy (not the present team) appeared in an Avengers book, as did Korvac. So what ties does Korvac have to the Marvel films? How about the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, the Cosmic universe, and Captain America. Yes there are plenty of villains that have ties like this, but none are of a big enough entity (Thanos, Doomsday, Darkseid, Galactus) to warrant a movie based around it that includes so many ties to so many things going on now within the Marvel cinematic universe. With the release of Korvac Saga #1 coming this Wednesday, why not get on top of some of the older Korvac books instead of thinking about that silly $20 variant? Giant Size Defenders #3 (1975) is the first appearance of Korvac. Avengers #167 (1978) is the beginning of the original Korvac saga and the first first time the Guardians team joins the Avengers in their title. Art and cover by George Perez. Another great Korvac book, What If? #32 (1982). A story that asks the question “What if the Avengers Had Become Pawns of Korvac?” A superstar lineup of inkers on this comic. All of these comics are at affordable rates. Maybe we’ll see Korvac in Phase 4. If you don’t, you have some great storytelling comics in your hands, so it’s a win-win.

Back in 2006 the Planet Hulk story line made for some great reading. Writer Greg Pak was the creator of Hulk’s new universe. Greg Pak is to the Hulk what Jim Starlin was to Captain Marvel and the cosmic universe. Creating an entirely new platform to which a character really expands their realm of story telling outside of the normal Marvel universe. Regular readers already know that InvestComics brought up a Planet Hulk movie years ago before anyone even fathomed the thought. This place has a knack of having a hand on the pulse and predicting things like this. Although still a rumor for the most part, no official announcement as of yet, but Planet Hulk might be one of the next phases in the Marvel cinematic universe. So you still have time to grab those Planet Hulk back issues as InvestComics has recommended for years now.

Which brings us to this coming Wednesday. The Planet Hulk story is a big one once again. Get these comics not only for the obvious movie tie in possibility, but for the kick as* story. Planet Hulk #2 will bring back Devil Dinosaur again too. Marvel knew a popular movie with big dinosaurs was going to hit around this time; Jurassic World = making dinosaur’s cool again. So they timed it perfectly to get their red T-Rex character front and center. Back in 2010, InvestComics spoke about Devil Dinosaur’s first appearance in Devil Dinosaur #1 (1978) for the simple fact of who created the character and who puts it down in the comic. Jack Kirby writes, pencils, does the cover art, and is the editor. Talk about different hats, the legend was all over this book. The comic is still very affordable due to its lack of interest, but why wouldn’t a collector be interested here? A cool looking red dinosaur created by Kirby, first appearance in a self titled Bronze Age comic, and with Jack ‘King’ Kirby all over the first issue. Granted it’s a silly red dinosaur, but who cares? Comics are meant to be fun, not so serious all the time. Graded copies in the low 9’s are very low in pricing, while the raw copies are extremely low. With the success of Jurassic World, could you imagine if Marvel Studios ever tried their hand on a dinosaur type movie? And Devil Dinosaur (with Moon Boy!) being the main character? Yes, Moon Boy also first appeared in Devil Dinosaur #1 in case you’re wondering. Bottom line here, rather see this than a Howard The Duck movie any day. Yes we said it.

Click on any red link or comic cover in the article to buy/bid on the comic right now. A new page will open, so you will not lose your place here.

Speaking of the duck. Did you see that Howard The Duck #4 Spider-Gwen variant from Jason Latour? It’s the already classic(?) Gwen cover, but with Howard in her place. Okay.

Another Gwen variant; X-Men 92 #1. A Ryan Stegman X-Gwen variant cover. As InvestComics has said about these Spider-Gwen variants many times, maybe one of these silly Gwen crossover characters will catch on. Stay on top of it just in case…..

G.I. Joe #215; the funeral for Snake Eyes. A fantastic story from IDW continues to compel the fanbase and some speculators. These comics will be hot for a little bit, but a year from now many collectors probably won’t care. Many dealers are limiting fans to only one copy per customer this Wednesday. By this time next year they won’t be able to give them away. Get in, get out speculators.

On the DC front this Wednesday; Green Lantern The Lost Army #1 written by Cullen Bunn. Justice League 3001 #1 written by Keith Giffen. Superman #41 written by new series writer Gene Luen Yang. And We Are Robin #1. A new series that begs to be cool. The idea is, will fans think so?

Venture #1 from Action Lab Entertainment is a winner. Writer Jay Faerber and artist Jamal Igle have another hit on their hands. The regular and its variants are sold out.

Click on any red link or comic cover in the article to buy/bid on the comic right now. A new page will open, so you will not lose your place here.

And finally, but not least. Evil Dead 2 Beyond Dead By Dawn #1 from Space Goat Productions looks interesting.

The sold out rare Ravenous #1 variant from Creature Entertainment (signed by 4 creators) will be given away this week on the InvestComics Facebook page. We were supposed to do it last week, but real life stuff impeded this from happening. This week instead. Thanks.

As all of the Creator Spotlights on InvestComics, each and every one of the creators have their own uniqueness. Rob Liefeld stormed into the industry back in 1987 and took the industry by the proverbial ears, starred into its eyes and said “I’m taking over.” So he he did.

He was one of the busiest creators in the industry at one time. The man was churning out comics at a ridiculous rate. That was good for the fans because they couldn’t seem to get enough.

Check out some of Rob Liefeld’s key books in his vast career thus far. Everything from Deadpool to Jada Pinkett Smith. Yes Jada….

Marc Spector, Moon Knight #19 (1990) A solo Rob Liefeld Moon Knight cover with Spider-Man and the Punisher.

New Mutants #98 (1991) Well here it is. The Holy Grail. Only fours years into his professional career, Rob hits on a character that will forever change his career and the Marvel character landscape. The cover alone has been paid respect to so many times throughout the years. Rob Liefeld introduced the world to Deadpool and Marvel had a character for the ages. Not much can be said about this comic and character that hasn’t been said already, but Rob is officially a superstar now.

X-Force #1 (1991) This comic was ridiculously hot back in the early 90’s. Too many copies released prevented it from gaining any substantial aftermarket heat. Rob pencils/inks and cover art. Many collectors these days go after the bagged issue with the Deadpool trading card. Claiming it’s an early appearance of Deadpool. It’s a card. Seriously, it’s a card, not a comic appearance.

Here’s the latest installment of long lost since forgotten comic books. Many of these comics are simply not spoken of anymore and SOME of these have no monetary value in the speculative market, but do have a place in our hearts. Great stories and amazing creative talents accompany most of these books. Into the abyss these comics have gone, but here they are once again. Buy them, read them, they’re fun.

Click the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on the books in this article.

Star Brand #1 (1986) Here’s a series that went no where fast. So fast in fact that issue number 19 was the last issue ; “number 19 in a 19 issue limited series.” Really?? Okay. This happened with almost all of the other titles as well when it came to Marvel’s New Universe imprint. Most  say “#32 of a 32 issue Limited Series.” on the top of the book. No lie, true story.

But even the creative firepower couldn’t save this series from its ultimate demise. John Romita Jr. does most of the art and a cover or two for about the first seven issues. Writer Roy Thomas on issue number seven, Keith Giffen art in issue number 9 with a Bob Wiacek cover, issue number ten features Mark Bagley Pencils, and then legend John Byrne takes over art and writing duties as of issue number eleven. And good luck finding that scarce last issue too.

Union Jack #1 (1998) Union Jack’s first solo series comic. Writer/artist and cover all by John Cassaday. When will a UK based character break out anyway? It will happen eventually (as InvestComics has said a while back), but here you have a great 3 part mini-series to read. One of the cool things about the Marvel Comics cover with issue number one is the wording “The Walking Dead”. That’s five years before the Kirkman book. Speaking of which…….

The Walking Dead #1 (1989) Are you aware there was a Walking Dead comic out 14 years prior to Kirkman’s Walking Dead? A four issue zombie horror comic. If you were, kudos to you. If not, now you’re in the know. The Walking Dead #1 from 1989 was put out by Aircel Comics and created by Jim Somerville. Issue number 3 features a Dale Keown cover! Sweet. Good luck finding any of these comics at your local shop.

Black Orchid (1988) Critically acclaimed 3 part series by artist Dave Mckean and writer Neil Gaiman.

Blade Runner (1982) With all of the talking going on regarding another Blade Runner movie, wouldn’t it be cool to get this comic in a 50 cent bin and have it signed/graded by Harrison Ford? A nice collectors item indeed. You’re welcome.

For many years on this site, InvestComics has spoken about Marvel’s White Knight. Now he gets the Spotlight treatment. This checklist is the most extensive Moon Knight checklist on the internet. What you will find are many first appearances, key books, creator books, covers, etc. It’s absolutely a bookmark spot on your pc/phone.

So why Moon Knight? As said before, for many years InvestComics has spoken highly of this character and waiting for the moment that he breaks loose. InvestComics feels now is the time to give Moon Knight his due on the site and dedicate an entire article/checklist on him. We feel that MK is as close to breaking out as he’s ever been. A television announcement? A major motion picture announcement? Either way, it will be fantastic news for collectors and readers that follow Moon Knight.

A complex character that rivals DC’s Batman; hence “the White Knight”. Imagine if and possibly when Marvel Studios decides to go very dark, go in the direction of the Batman lure. They have their character right here. They have the history since 1975. The story is all there, the darkness, the emotion, the violence, the struggle. Let’s understand one thing here though. While the comparison is being made, he is not Batman. He never will be, so fanboys please relax. Batman is its own entity, we get that. What InvestComics is saying is Moon Knight possesses the dark ambiance as a character, just like Batman. And it would be amazing to see Marvel Studios take on a “Batman” like character. The grittiness of Moon Knight, that is like the Batman lure into moving pictures somehow. Be it T.V. or the big screen. It is time to get the Moon Knight character out there.

Avengers #501 (2004) Here is that “second artist” being referred to from earlier. David Finch first draws Moon Knight in this comic. He, like Platt will be looked at as the “go-to” when and if the Moon Knight makes it to television or the movies. Their art/style will be the foundation to which the character is based on. David Finch returns on this list again…..

Marvel Team-Up #3 (2005) Robert Kirkman, yes that one, writes a story here that includes Moon Knight in it (as filler). The headliner here is Dr. Strange. Kirkman writes a Dr. Strange story. Yep it happened. Let’s get back to Moon Knight……
