Uncanny Inhumans #11 – Well, we’ll say it. We told you so. This comic is sold out across the board and has its aftermarket burners on. Look for some high prices on Ebay for those who did not get it on their pull list at their local comic shop. That’s unless you read the InvestComics Hot Picks #430 article and clicked a buy it now on Ebay. Prices bidding around $8 – $16 already. We told you to pick one up…….

Grayson Annual #3 – We also alerted Harley Quinn collectors that she’ll be appearing in this comic this week. Guess what? It’s sold out!

Spider-Gwen Annual #1 – Setting up some future story lines for Spider-Gwen happens right here. Spider-Gwen fans be on alert.

Captain Marvel #6 – As we said in the Hot Picks article, Marvel Comics seems to be setting up Carol Danvers as the premiere character within their universe. It may all start here. Just a speculative thought.

Deathstroke Annual #2 – A new villain named Balkan joins the fray.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: New Gods #1 graded 7.0. With lots of talk regarding the New Gods making a possible appearance in the new Justice League movie, this comic is a nice pickup. The first appearances of Orion, Lightray, Metron, Kalibak, Highfather, New Genesis and Apokolips. Also with a Darkseid cameo. Story and cover art from Jack Kirby. A fantastic book for your collection. A buy it now price tag of only $85.

There is a very big hyper-machine running behind a new character getting their own book in a few months. His name is Mosaic. Mosaic #1 is being pushed by Marvel as the next big thing (character) since sliced bread, but InvestComics is not going to give into the hype….just yet. A comic coming this week will be the first appearance of that “hot” Marvel character Mosaic. We are 99.999999% sure that other speculation sites and wannabe speculators will tell you to buy this comic it’s going to be so HOT! Maybe it will be, right out of the gate, but there are so many mitigating factors going into this week’s Uncanny Inhumans #11. Will Mosaic play a key role in the Marvel Universe for years to come? Anyone remember Sentry? Will Mosaic play a key role in another characters life? A brother, a son, a reincarnation? Will Mosaic ‘click’ with the fans long term? See Spider-Gwen or Gwenpool, but not Silk as much. Will the character actually have substance to make him interesting enough for fans to come back and or demand to see him more within the Marvel U? It has taken literally decades for Werewolf By Night #32 (Moon Knight) to earn some respect. Partial thanks to InvestComics for pushing that particular book for the last 12 years. The basic point here is not to go all in by paying premium prices for a first appearance of Mosaic if you have no idea where this characters’ future lies within the Marvel U. The easiest call to make these days is the new female characters Marvel introduces. They seem to jump out and kick major as* in the aftermarket quick. The female counter parts however are a bit more touch and go sometimes. Mosaic is the next Marvel character to be pushed in an aggressive way, to which does not always equate to speculator gold. Sometimes it equates to a huge bust. We’ll have to do a wait and see here for a bit, but for now, Uncanny Inhumans #11 has all eyes on it this week. Buy a copy and make your own judgment as to whether or not YOU want to dig in with Mosaic. Don’t think too long though or you’ll have to wait for a second print, thus missing that possible easy flip. This comic will be completely sold out before new comic book day Wednesday.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from ALL available sellers on Ebay.

Fans of Spider-Gwen may want to keep an eye out on the Spider-Gwen Annual #1 comic this week. Marvel is setting up Spider-Gwen’s near future right here.
We hate to say we told you so, but we told you so. We informed readers that the Spider-Man Deadpool series was going to be huge. We told readers to pick up that Spider-Man Deadpool #1 issue, it’s now headed to it’s sixth printing. Check out the all-star issue this week; Spider-Man Deadpool #6.
Last month fanboys got their panties in a bunch because Steve Rogers uttered two very bad words at the end of his debut issue. Lets see if Captain America Steve Rogers #2 brings some clarity or sends the fanboys into more of a tizzy. Maybe Marvel will add fuel to the fire and have the fanboys daring to stop buying Marvel comic books! Been there, done that. Deep breath dudes, breathe.

The Amazing Spider-Man And Silk Spider(Fly) Effect #4 story will have both Spidey and Silk reminiscing about that fateful day in the science fair where they were both bit by the same spider. Ah, good ol’ times! And that Ryan Stegman cover is killer.
It looks as though Marvel is trying to put Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) front and center in their universe. Good deal, we dig it. Captain Marvel #6 will feature Carol in a defining type moment in her hero career. Be there to witness it.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from ALL available sellers on Ebay.

Harley Quinn appearance alert! Harley will make an appearance in Grayson Annual #3.
Deathstroke Annual #2 will introduce a villain named Balkan.
Disclaimer; we’re not crapping on this series, but just stating facts via the social media non-presence and the overall quietness of fans. We warned speculators from the outset. Do not get too vested in the third installment. The colossal failure/delayed Dark Knight III hits its fifth issue (Dark Knight III The Master Race #5). Maybe sales are good for DC with this series, but fans are NOT really talking about the third go-around here. Delays have killed any momentum the series may have had. All that said, a Midtown Comics Greg Capullo variant looks snazzy! And of course you have the Jim Lee variant coming in at $550. Unbelievable to us how JUST a cover, a NEW comic, with the SAME insides/story as ANY of the other 10 variants commands $550. **The fanboy screams** “but it’s a 1 in 300” (or whatever the ratio is), we don’t care. Spend your money by clicking HERE (Bronze Age Comics) instead.

It’s just a question of time before Mark Millar and Frank Quitely’s Jupiter’s Legacy really takes off right? So much potential here it’s unreal. A lot to choose from regarding the indie market this week. So many, but here are a few to definitely check out!
Action Lab Entertainment books to check out this Wednesday; Zoe Dare vs The Disasteroid #1 and Vampblade #5 (Danger Zone). The Vampblade #5 cover is a hilarious parody of the Rom character. A must see. Fantastic job here by Winston Young.
The awesome Eric Powell writes and draws Hillbilly #1 (Albatross Exploding).
Black Mask follows up their hit book; 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank with the second issue. They also hit fans with Jade Street Protection Services #1. Written by Katy Rex and art by Fabian Lelay.

Gotta love that new Gwenpool #2 cover. DC Comics gives fans a parody character of Deadpool a few weeks back; Red Tool. Now Marvel has this cover of Gwenpool on the cover resembling a certain DC character that welds a big hammer most of the time. Sometimes a baseball bat or whatever she can really get her hands on, but preferably that really BIG hammer is usually her “go-to”. Make of the cover what you will, but that sure does look like that DC girl. One more thing, the Gwenpool #2 Reilly Brown incentive cover is sold out.

Marvel Comics introduces yet another character on one of their covers. Seems like a trend now each week doesn’t it? Boy they market so well, catering to the comic collector. Silk #8 will feature Silk The Worthy (Silk as Thor). May never amount to anything, but the thing is, they seem to nail awesome looking characters! Create the character, the demand may come, a follow up on making the character a part of the actual Marvel Universe and there you have it, an introduction on a comic cover.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates of the new Black Panther series will probably make readers realize that his particular take on this character is unlike anything they’ve ever read before. Black Panther #2 comes out on Wednesday and will prove this point even more so. The Midnight Angels make an appearance to stir things up a bit. The Midnight Angels first appeared way back in 2010’s Doomwar #5, a comic that features lots of guest spots including Deadpool. And Black Panther, of course. Marvel’s new Apocalypse variant covers are killing it too these past couple of weeks. The Apocalypse Black Panther #2 variant is proof of this.
….And Dale Keown’s Guardians Of The Galaxy #8 Apocalypse cover is ridiculously wonderful.

There are many DC covers paying homage to their own series this Wednesday. With many issues hitting that proverbial 52nd issue, DC will regurgitate the covers from it’s premiere issue in its own series with issue number 52. It all seems so contrived at this point with the New 52 in so many ways. Homage to a number one issue from 51 issues ago? Really?? Okay.

With the influx of female characters making their way into the comic book medium these days, with lots of thanks to Disney (Marvel) making it so that the female character shows more of a “character side” as they have never before, we wanted to make sure to recognize some of the keys players. We completely understand that female characters have been around since the inception of comic books (no need for a history lesson, stop typing that email or Facebook post), but there is a movement happening in the past few years to the likes we have never really seen in case you haven’t realized it. Disney put a female lead in its new Star Wars movie, now the next Star Wars movie (Rouge One) will ALSO be a female lead. They know what they’re doing and their comics are following the same guidelines. So as is everyone else in the comic book industry. Much like what always happens with InvestComics and everyone following us or emulating. We’re flattered though. Like Disney.

Listed below are some new comics, some old comics and characters WE like. This will be the first installment of more Female character checklist to come. Of course we will in FACT not have some of your favorites here, but all in due time. Relax. Just breathe. Deep breaths. No emails, no Facebook post, Tweets, Instagram notes. Breathe……breathe.

Empress #1 – This “Saga” like comic from Mark Millar will be sold out in no time. Watch for this Marvel imprint from Icon to take off. One of the key components to its success will be that it has to be consistent on its release. Millar’s Nemesis, also from Icon, was a semi-success, but lost many fans because of delays. It could have been a bigger book (should have been), but delays will kill things fast. Empress + on time = success.

Star Wars Poe Dameron #1 – Almost every week InvestComics preaches the gospel about Star Wars comics from Marvel. We say to buy them because they are fantastic reads and for the possible first appearance that may explode at any time. This week we have a character from the latest Star Wars movie making their first appearance in a Star Wars comic. What more do you want here? Okay, maybe have your wife/girlfriend or maybe read it with your kid? That would be cool too.

Justice League Darkseid War Special #1 – Darkseid’s daughter, Grail, will be making her indelible mark within the DC universe this Wednesday. DC might be priming her for bigger things to come. Check out the InvestComics Hot Picks #418 for more info on this and about Grail’s first appearance.

Harley Quinn And The Suicide Squad April Fools Special #1 – One of DC’s all time greatest artist will grace us with his presence in this book. Jim Lee will pencil and do the cover art here. What more do you need? Refer back to the new Star Wars comic if you need more answers on that.

Superman #51 – A new story line begins; Super League. Be on the lookout for possible new villains or heroes in this epic Superman crossover event. We’ll probably say “told you so!”

Showcase #75

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates in purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details)

IC 100 Club Pick: Showcase #75 (1968) 7.0. This comic represents the first appearance and origin of Hawk and Dove. Story, cover and interior art from the legendary man himself, Steve Ditko. A 7.0 grade for only $90, with FREE shipping, gets this beauty in your hands. This a must in your collection.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from all available sellers on Ebay.

Look for writer Mark Millar to turn things upside down with the debut of Empress #1 from Marvel’s imprint Icon. It’s already getting billed as Marvel Comics version of “Saga”. And we all know how Saga turned out. Mark will introduce fans to a whole new sci-fi world. Hollywood LOVES Mark Millar and we wonder if Marvel Studios would ever pick this up and run with it. Who knows? It could happen. Either way, this is an introduction comic in the vein of Saga, one to watch for here! This will be big.

The new Black Panther series makes its debut this week; Black Panther Vol 6 #1. The longest running Black Panther series lasted 62 issues. Many limited series, one shots, and team-up books over the span of six volumes for the character. Will this series ever make past 62 issues? We’ll see. But the first issue here is accompanied by an abundance of variants to choose from. Pointless, and the need for 13 different covers (at last count, probably more) is a bit excessive. The creative team makes for a must get though. Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Brian Stelfreeze will bring fans back again and again.

Marvel will introduce a new Star Wars character into their library. Star Wars Poe Dameron #1 will have the first comic book appearance of Poe Dameron. Poe appeared in the latest Star Wars flick and now he makes his way into the funnies. Regular InvestComics readers know how we feel about the Star Wars comics. Buy them all! This one here is so obvious that if you miss it, shame on you! Besides Empress #1, this is the other big Marvel book this week.

Spider-Women Alpha #1 features Silk, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Woman all teaming up. The Stacey Lee variant is sold out.

This week’s Justice League Darkseid War Special #1 will focus on Darkseid’s daughter Grail. A book simmering in the back issue bins on Ebay is Justice League #40 (2015), the first appearance of Darkseid’s daughter Grail. With DC maybe headed towards a Darkseid movie appearance, who’s to say they won’t take a page out of Marvel’s film franchise and include his daughter, a’la Marvel’s Nebula (Thanos). Right now JL #40 might be a gimme at $15….the same price as some worthless variant this week. Maybe getting Justice League #40 instead of a pretty cover makes more sense. Just saying.
There are plenty of DC comic covers by John Romita Jr. to choose from this week. DC is proud to have John Romita Jr. on their side instead of those “other guys”. Some may say or think this is the first time John is playing for the other side, but fans of InvestComics know we’re going to do our research! John Romita Jr. first drew some DC characters back in 1994. Not just “any” characters, he penciled Batman, Robin, Joker, among some others from the DCU. The comic was Batman/Punisher: Deadly Knights. Art by John Romita Jr. and written by Chuck Dixon. John also contributed to the awesome cover. Great comic, great story, Romita Jr.’s first DC work.

While on topic regarding DC’s past history. Bloodlines #1 debuts with writer J.T. Krul and artist Kenneth Marion at the helm. Bloodlines was a huge crossover storyline that took almost 6 months to hammer out back in 1993, spanning from August to December. The very first Bloodlines book was Lobo Annual #1 Bloodlines Outbreak. This comic introduced the Bloodlines Parasites.

Mr. Jim Lee will provide artwork for this week’s winner of the longest comic book title; Harley Quinn And The Suicide Squad April Fools Special #1. Yes, THE Jim Lee will be penciling this comic. The Lee sketch cover is already sold out.

Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five #7 features the first appearance of the NEW Nightwing.
It looks like Superman #51 could possibly introduce some new characters within its major new storyline crossing over all of the Superman titles; Super League Part 1 begins here. Keep an eye out on this series for new characters and villains.
Green Arrow will battle Deathstroke in Green Arrow #51. Fantastic covers from Patrick Zircher (regular cover) and John Romita Jr. (variant).

Grizzly Shark #1 from Image Comics looks interesting. Grizzly Shark first appeared in Sea Bear and Grizzly Shark #1 (2010). This Origin debut comic is written by Robert Kirkman. Ever heard of him? Art from the 2010 and 2016 Shark books; Ryan Ottley.
A new Think Tank series will start this Wednesday; Think Tank #1 (Image Comics). The original series started in 2012; Think Tank #1.

Moon Girl 1

Hot Pick Of The Week – Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 – Click To Buy/Bid

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 – Here’s the first appearance of Moon Girl and an overall fun book to check out this week. A keeper here.

Dark Knight III – Huge expectations for DC and fans alike. Spoiler alert coming up in case you don’t know, so discontinue reading if need be……..Frank Miller said that Carrie Kelly will take the Batman mantle in this latest installment. Wow another gender change for a big character, how original.

Silk #1 – InvestComics has and will always be on team Silk. Originality within this character brings the cultural and gender into play making for a possible deeper character driven hero for years to come.

Henchgirl #2 – Scout Comics has done it again. A sold out number issue (short print run) and a sold out number two issue. Henchgirl is hitting a cord with fans.

Jacked #1 – Maybe Hollywood or a television studio will come-a-knockin’ with this story. Or maybe not, but a DC/Vertigo title written by Eric Kripke will be an interesting book.

Well we cannot avoid the elephant in the room this week, so lets get it out the way shall we? Dark Knight III. Yep Dark Knight III and it’s 48 variant covers at last count. Absurdity at its finest here. 48 covers, is this truly necessary? Of course it’s not, but money is important for business, so while not necessary, it’s business. Before moving on, we want to point out that what you’re about to read regarding all of the hype regarding DKIII you may have heard here before over the years, just some rehash, an observation, some added numbers…..

Here are some things to consider if you’re in the market for that rare rare crazy variant. The first and most obvious, well maybe not so obvious to the potential buyer, but if you spend a whole bunch of money on a “rare” DKIII variant, you just bought a comic book “cover” for say….$150. So now you have yourself a “nice” pretty cover with the SAME EXACT insides as probably 1 million other comic books. Absolutely NOTHING different within the confines of YOUR pretty expensive cover’s insides as opposed to the other million copies. So your options are one or two things after you make your $150+ purchase. Get it graded (9.8 or more) and quadruple your intake (poor sap buying that! Wow) or hold onto it thinking you’ll have a comic to send your children to college with, which will never happen. Here’s a wake-up call. First and foremost, Dark Knight III will probably be a great book, better than Dark Knight II, but NOT better than Dark Knight I. Let’s have a clear understanding of something here, if you are an avid collector you will not have to read ahead here, but this is for the newer collectors and the others that have been brainwashed by websites trying to over-hype 48+ covers. The Dark Knight Returns (1986) came out right before Watchmen #1 (1986). Whether you are a fan of either of these books or not, these were game changers. Fifty years from now, pop culture will refer back to 1986’s Dark Knight and Watchmen books. It will not refer back to 2015 Dark Knight III. It just won’t happen. So lets do a quick reminder before the hate mail, Dark Knight III will probably be a great read. Better than II, but it probably won’t be a game changer. A game changer will always be a reference, a shape, a starting point, a long term monetary gain. Here is the pricing of three recent graded copies of DKI (1986) and what they sold for; 9.4 $220, 9.6 $239, 9.8 $750. Don’t you feel the pricing should be just a bit higher here, considering the iconic attachment of this book right? Well it probably would be, but one slight setback, too many copies out there. According to the CGC Census there are 344 9.8 graded copies and 725 at 9.6 and 350 at 9.4. and so on…..that’s a whole lot of comics. This is the reason the pricing will steadily increase over the years, but will never bounce to ridiculous numbers quickly like DKIII will in the immediate interim. Now lets relate ALL of this to Dark Knight III. The other speculative sites will inform buyers that this will be a book for the ages. Newsflash, It’s not going to be, but most buy into it and will jump all over it. All of those crispy 9.8 rare variants of Dark Knight III will go out to the grading companies and now you will eventually far exceed the 344 copies from 1986 that grade at 9.8. They will sell at or ABOVE the last sold copy from 1986. Does this make sense at all to you? Oh yes yes, it’s a special cover that’s right. The inside is still the same right? Yes yes it is, we’ve already established that. But man is this a great money grab right? There will be over hyped buyers listening to these other sites and essentially making a bad purchase, but readers here will be smart and sell their books if they can double/triple their money. Do not let greed set in, you will eventually lose.

Dark Knight I (1986) contained the first appearance of Carrie Kelly. It was written Frank Miller. Art by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson. Dark Knight III this Wednesday will be written by Brian Azzarello and ….Frank Miller? Back to that in a sec. Art by Andy Kubert /Klaus Janson. So it’s said that Frank Miller had nothing to do with the story. DC attached his name as though Miller was an intricate part of the story, but he kind of wasn’t. Frank Miller did state though that he will be THE writer on Dark Knight IV. Oh joy, 80 variants for that one we hope!

Will Dark Knight III contain that all too important first appearance to keep its lure? Will the story be so groundbreaking that it changes the comic book medium? This is the only way in the comic collectors hobby that DKIII will sustain its long term monetary value in ANY way. Otherwise what you will have in that $600 Jim Lee variant cover is…..a pretty cover. Good luck with that. Invest that $600 on a Silver Age or Bronze Age book.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

In closing regarding DKIII. Before anyone sends the hate mail we are not suggesting you do not buy DKIII or any of its variants. We are not down on DKIII. We’re not saying NOT to buy it. You absolutely should. It’s probably going to be a cool read, but what we are saying is not to get caught up in the hype and waste your hard earned money. If you dig a variant and it’s expensive, but YOU dig it, then by all means buy it. Buy what you like because you connect with it. We like to inform collectors of the reality of things and not the fantasy when it comes to speculation. Barring any major introductions or groundbreaking storytelling, this series at the end of the day will be just another good Batman story. Which is fine.

(insert sarcasm here) Oh my goodness! It’s Harley Quinn on the cover of a Deathstroke comic! Will Deathstroke #12 be just like the RARE Scooby Doo Team-Up #12 Harley Quinn comic that InvestComics did NOT recommend and sold for a whopping $5.99 on Ebay last week?! No, but it’s a bad as* team-up and should be checked out.

Check out Justice League 3001 #6 as a new race of New Gods make an appearance.

A must read new DC/Vertigo title this Wednesday; Jacked #1. We can see this “ordinary” character becoming a movie or TV series one day.

Image Comics informs their Black Magick readers that a major character introduction will come in Black Magick #2. Sticking with the tip-off deal here from Image, Rumble #9 is set to introduce two major characters into the fray.

WWE fans may want to be put on alert as Ringside #1 from Image Comics hits this week. A violent wrestling story from writer Joe Keatinge. No John Cena here….maybe that’s for the best?

Saga #31 will return its story line to real time.

Back in 2010 InvestComics pointed out a nice cheap Jack Kirby number one issue/first appearance. It was Devil Dinosaur #1 (1978) and a near mint raw copy was selling for about $9. King Kirby was the writer, artist, editor, and the cover artist of this book for most of the nine issue run. A graded 9.8 PGX graded sold last week for about $74. Still a bargain actually! Why the mention of Devil Dinosaur? Well a sleeper book may hit this Wednesday so don’t nap on it. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 will be a good book. A few variants available, but the regular Amy Reeder cover is our fav. Also a note here and maybe more important than anything we just said. Back in 1978 not only was Devil Dinosaur’s first appearance in the number one issue, but it was also the first appearance of Moon Boy. Guess who’s first appearance is in the 2015 number issue? Yep, Moon Girl.

Regular visitors to the InvestComics website know that we are big fans of Silk. Always have been. We have always felt there is more upside to her character than many other new female characters within the Marvel Universe. Silk #1 in it’s second volume already hits this Wednesday. Written by Robbie Thompson and art by Stacey Lee. You’re going to have to fight through a lot of the Silk #1 volume 1 to find Silk #1 volume 2 on Ebay right now. The popularity of the latest series should overtake the current 300+ listings of volume 1. Or after you click the link, you can input “vol 2” on the search bar! Some still come up differently on Ebay, so you’ll have to try different searches; i.e. Volume 2, Silk #1 vol 2, Silk vol 2 #1, etc…..

So what does Marvel do if they A: don’t want to pursue the Rom character back from obscurity or B: never cared enough to even think they want Rom back so they lost out to IDW Publishing in getting Rom back first even if they did in fact want him. Confused yet? We are. Anyway, comic fans know by now that Rom Space Knight is now at IDW Publishing. With that, Marvel will try to one up IDW this Wednesday with Venom Space Knight #1. No for real, no joke. No Amazing Spider-Man #300 Venom here, no this is Venom Space Knight! Marvel put writer Robbie Thompson and artist Ariel Olivetti on this book. They’re looking for a pop here. Will they get it? Hmmm…..maybe not? Maybe? But the Mike Deodato Jr. variant is awesome though isn’t it?

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

What happened to Fiona Staples on Archie?? Welcome artist Annie Wu to Archie #4. Fantastic Paul Renaud variant cover.

InvestComics gave you a heads up on Henchgirl #1 from Scout Comics. It sold out it’s short print run rather quick. Now the followup; Henchgirl #2. Will the second issue dictate where the series is headed? Will fans pick up on it? If you dug the first issue, show your support. Oh wait wait, we forgot to mention, Henchgirl #2 is sold out. Maybe the fans are speaking out already!

InvestComics Hot Picks – Top 5 New Comic Picks #8

From: InvestComics Hot Picks #369

Every Tuesday/Wednesday! Here are the Top 5 NEW comics to speculate/read from this Wednesday’s new comic book day.

From this past Sunday’s InvestComics Hot Picks #369

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now
.

Batman #40 – The Endgame story line comes to a climatic conclusion. The last issue of this run is completely sold out. The regular cover and variants are no longer available at Diamond. The two variants are fantastic; the Andy Kubert and the Mask movie variant.Silk_3_InvestComics

Silk #3 – The Black Cat vs. Silk! The variant is sold out. Watch for books like this one to command some extra units once the Silk character hits it bigger. The Black Cat is already slated to appear in a Spidey movie eventually, maybe Silk too? Never know….

Princess Leia #3 – As explained on InvestComics quite often these past few months. Any new Star Wars comic holds the potential of explosion or possible long term investment. A first appearance may happen at any time and the speculation fever will hit. Maybe that first appearance will come to fruition. Maybe that first appearance will become a bigger story within the Marvel Universe. Maybe a cartoon appearance? Maybe none of this. Either way, you’re getting some good Star Wars stories to read!

Fantastic Four #645 – The last issue of Fantastic Four ever. That’s until the Mouse is not any anymore.

Mayday #1 – An odd offering from Black Mask Comics. A daring story line about Hollywood may have this comic fly under the radar.

New Release Comics on 3/25/15 (And back issues)

CLICK any RED Link or Comic cover to Buy/Bid on comics in this article on Ebay

There are so many new speculators coming on board that every once in a while there needs to be a little reminder here on InvestComics as to how this works…..

Just want to urge any new speculators (and veterans too) here to please read the disclaimers that appear in these articles each and every week before proceeding. It’s extremely important in understanding how this weekly modern comic book speculation article works. This is mostly a modern comics speculation article that appears here each and every week. InvestComics will RARELY EVER urge anyone to hold onto a modern book for a profit. We have ALWAYS recommended to hold a Bronze, Silver and or a Golden, but a Modern comic? We want to capitalize as quickly as possible with those. Buy them, bag em’, sell em’. Sometimes this means to take a $20 profit and not a $150 one. It will happen, and that has to be acceptable to the investor. No emotional attachment, just a profit and move along. Get it on the next one. If the investor is inclined to hold onto their comic, there will most likely be a loss. Your portfolio will be in the red and it will get quite frustrating to get out of and into the black. There is absolutely nothing said just now in this paragraph that has not been addressed hundreds of times over the last 10 years InvestComics has been giving away its free speculation advice. We want fans to come here and enjoy themselves first and foremost. That’s always been the main priority. Second priority is to possibly come away with some knowledge you were not aware of when you first arrived here. Third is to possibly turn a profit on some modern books that are recommended here. And the fourth, mostly importantly here is to take that money (besides paying a bill or two – real life stuff) and reinvest in a Bronze, Silver or a Golden Age comic. That is where the true money value is within these articles for 10 years. Again, mentioned over the years here on InvestComics, nothing groundbreaking. That’s it for now on a mini update on how some of this all works.

Darth_Vader_3_InvestComics Darth_Vader_3_InvestComics_Alphra

Silk, Spider-Gwen, Ms. Marvel, She Hulk, Harley Quinn, Powergirl, Wonder Woman and the list goes on. As previously mentioned on InvestComics recently (and about 6 years ago) the female comic book character is seriously making their indelible mark as of late. That’s a fantastic thing and a long time coming too. No more in the background as a secondary character. No more eye candy for that gratuitous chest shot to sell a comic book. Although the sexy covers are still done, they have diminished a bit. The female comic character’s are in such demand for their own independence that Marvel has the A-Force #1 comic coming out to push the proverbial envelope even further. Not stating any of these moves spell for a successful campaign, but it will call for a successful marketing campaign regarding putting the female character front and center. Whether any of the attempts by either of the big two to push the strong woman as a lead will succeed depends on a simple measure. Good story telling. That’s it. Simple, but it’s the only way fans will truly pay attention to any of the movement here. Must have a compelling story. If not, it will fail. Great artwork (eye appeal) will take you so far. The artwork is the initial marketing ploy to draw the consumer eye in. Once in, there must be substance there to sustain the consumer to “stick around”. If the consumer does not connect the dots, the campaign fails. So next time you see that hot comic with “so-so” artwork going (in your opinion), realize that it’s the guts of that book (the writer) driving it home along with the artist. It’s the artist that is solidifying the writers thoughts and impacting the flow of the great story. So in essence the “team” works in tandem and a great book is born. This is all free marketing advice that most pay for in college or through other sources, but for you today….free (thanks Raf for that “free” usage line). So why all of this marketing and female character talk you ask? Well, there could be one of the hottest possible Star_Wars_Droids_2_InvestComicsspeculation comics on the planet coming out this week, so you better be on top of this one. Click this link to Darth Vader #3 and get on Ebay right away if you want to be a part of the next hot book in the aftermarket. Of course your local comic shop will probably have copies, but not for long! So best to click and buy now. The reason to seriously consider getting this comic is for a couple of reasons. The first reason is because of the introduction of a new female character named Aphra. The second is because this is the very first introduction of a any new Star Wars characters within the Marvel Universe since around 1986 when they were introducing a bunch of Droids in Star Wars Droids #2. The art and cover work features John Romita Sr. at the helm for the first five issues. That’s just way too cool isn’t it? Darth Vader #3 will probably be a big aftermarket comic because speculators will not know where Aphra will end up. Will she ever get her own title? Will she be such an in-depth character that fans will demand more? Will she be featured in one of the new Star Wars films? Maybe none of this comes to fruition. This is where most speculators get caught. In the middle. Do I sell now? Do I take a profit? What if the book goes up another $100? The simple answer, who cares? Get your profit (of your choosing) and get out. If you are so inclined to worry about getting the top dollar, buy two copies then. Stash away one and sell the other. But, by doing things like this you run a HUGE risk of having too much inventory, thus creating a negative within your portfolio over time due to the unbalance of the two sides. Too much inventory equates to loss of profit if it supersedes your sell off point of one comic. So in laments terms; If you have a Star Wars #1 variant and sold it for $250, but you have another 20 copies you spent $35 for sitting in inventory, you are actually -$450. You must now hope that the market stays hot (which it mostly does for a very short time). The numbers here are purely made up, the same goes if you buy even two variant comics at a high price or 100 or 50, etc. Sell those variants of hot modern books when you feel they are peeked. An amazing tool coming soon to help speculators with this and it’s called CMV. InvestComics has seen the inner working’s/backend of this glorious comic book speculation tool and it’s a game changer. We are working closely with CMV to be a one and one tandem so that the speculator will have a lot of knowledge within their grasp between the both sites. More on this coming, but for now check out CMV and you will see exactly what the market is doing on certain books. Now back to Darth Vader #3! A great comic to speculate on this week and is easily the top pick in this InvestComics Hot Pick article by far.

Deathstroke_6_InvestComics Deathstroke_8_InvestComics

One of InvestComics’ favorite characters since the inception of the magazine/site has been Deathstroke. We recommended the first appearance of Deathstroke when it was only about $20 at one time. We love the character and as we so often say around here, Teen Titans #2 (1980) is still in buy mode. However, this week Deathstroke seems to have some daddy issues. Check out Deathstroke #6 as his badas* looking dad comes into the mix. Slade’s father first appeared in the previous Deathstroke series; Deathstroke #8 (2012).

Batman ’66 #21 will introduce “Lord Death Man”. This might be a good pick up if you like introductions.

A couple of odd number one comics coming this Wednesday to check out. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad #1 is based on the world famous Disney ride. A comic based on a Disney ride. Yes you heard that right. Some very nice variants too with this one. Click the link, check them out. And Miami Vice Remix #1 from awesome writer Joe Casey. Based on the super hot Miami Vice television series from the 80’s. Two different comics with a lot of fun attached to them probably.

The rest of the number one comics to definitely check out this week are; the confusion of Multiversity Ultra Comics #1 and what is going on with anything pertaining to Multiversity. This number one issue is “groundbreaking” we think in a way we have no way of explaining or knowing why. Extremely confusing, but worth a mention for others to weigh in and help others out! Hit 1957 #1 from Boom Studios looks like an interesting read if you like crime stories. More girl power this week with IDW’s Jem and the Holograms #1. Written by Kelly Thompson. Might be her first comic series series work. A new team based comic from Dark Horse; Pastaways #1 by fantastic creators Matt Kindt and Scott Kolins is worth a look. Bryan J. L. Glass and Michael Avon Oeming team up once again for their latest Mice Templar offering; Mice Templar Nights End #1. We Can Never Go Home #1 from Black Mask Comics looks like a good read.

CLICK any RED Link or Comic cover to Buy/Bid on comics in this article on Ebay

Squarriors #1 showed a lot of interest with fans. Now lets see if Squarriors #2 sustains that interest with readers.

Two sold out comics this week that will amount to nothing more than a novelty item years from now Batman and Robin #40 and Justice League Dark #40, but can be profited on IF, IF, IF one can pull this off. A few things here. A few fans said a couple of weeks ago, how do you get a premier artist like recording artist Prince to sign a comic book? How can you suggest that? The book referred to was the Batgirl Purple Rain DC movie variant. Their were other movie variants also mentioned, but this was one of the few comments sent out regarding this particular book. Here’s the thing. InvestComics suggested that IF one can SOMEHOW pull this off, maybe never, but SOMEHOW pull ANY of these movie variant covers off that we suggest, then kudos to you!! It’s all based on the fun of actually trying to get this done somehow. We never said to go to your local comic convention and get Keenu Reeves to sign your Speed variant cover. We understand he is not readily available to sign a comic book, so please do take these fun suggestions and roll with it. Do not take these in the literal sense. One more thing. A sold out comic DOES NOT equate to automatic money. Walking Dead sells out each and every month, doesn’t mean anything. Too many times, fans are under the assumption that if a book sells out, it’s worth money and a flip can ensue. Not always the case. The flip happens when demand exceeds supply or when demand wants to hoard more copies. A sold out comic means nothing in the aftermarket if there is no substance. Will you pay $600 for a Star Wars #1 variant right now? Why not? It’s sold out right? Yes sold out and plenty of copies to go around. Plus more importantly, nothing of interest for the speculator to hold onto regarding that comic on the inside. A first appearance? A death? A possible movie character? A hot new artist? Writer? None of the above here. What you do have is a good read. That in itself should be good enough. It’s ultimately up to the individual (as always) to determine what sold out comic is worth pursuing and capitalizing on. Get the book on Ebay right away and take profits on moderns. That’s some of the best advice InvestComics can offer you. If you love, you will lose. This is why tradepaper backs were created. Read those, love those.

Batman_Robin_Harry_Potter_InvestComics Justice_League_40_InvestComics

Now back to the DC movie variants this week. Get a hold of Daniel Radcliffe or Ralph Fiennes or any of the other major players in the Harry Potter movie to sign your Batman and Robin #40 book. Be sure to have that witness and get it graded. This is the only way you’ll have that one of a kind awesome comic. If you happen to run into Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin or Genna Davis, have them sign your Justice League Dark #40 comic. Same here applies; witness/graded. Michael has been a round some shows over the years so maybe that signature is feasible? Nah! Still a hard get. But fun to try!

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.

Data for Diamond’s sales charts — which includes the monthly market shares and all top product charts — are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from sales made to thousands of comic book specialty shops located in North America and around the world. Additional sales made to online merchants and other specialty retailers may be included as well.

Unit and dollar market shares are calculated based upon orders for comic books, graphic novels, and magazines invoiced and shipped to Diamond customers during any given month, which comprises pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable. Please note that comics marked with an asterisk (*) have had their reported quantities reduced due to retailer returnability, and thus may rank lower on the charts than their actual sales would reflect.

Diamond_logoThe New Titles Count Chart includes all titles that were invoiced by Diamond to retailers for the first time during the month and is not the official solicited title count for the month. Variant edition comic books and graphic novels at the same price point count as a single SKU. Variant edition comic books, lenticular covers, digital combo packs, and graphic novels at different price points count as separate SKUs for each edition.

There will in fact (guaranteed) to be some missed opportunities. The speculator not only has to be accountable forspeculative their gains and loses, but their own research as well. If the speculator is here with the thought that InvestComics will pick every comic that hits, even ones that sells out weeks later or become hot after the weekly article; is mistakenly off. This is in fact an entertainment/speculative site. Bottom line though, we have and always will be the best speculative web site on the planet.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 2/18/15

Click on any of the RED links to go directly to Ebay to bid/purchase any books in this article. Maybe your shop under ordered or simply does not have the books within this article. InvestComics saves you the time of doing the search and brings you right to your target on Ebay.

Shock_Pop_Con_2015_InvestComicsInvestComics is fresh back from the very first comic show down in south Florida; Shock Pop Comic Con. Check out the extensive coverage InvestComics provided on its social media outlets. Click on the Press badge picture to the right to see some of the photo on the InvestComics Facebook page and also to be linked to the Shock Pop Comic Con Facebook page as well. Some awesome pictures to check out! The show was full of great guest and it was also a great place to get some comics witnessed by Capital Grading Services too. Capital Grading Services will be sharing some of the books that were verified, so stay tuned for that. A few nice ones coming up.

In the Meantime, be sure to head on over to the InvestComics Ebay page to check out some of the Capital Grading Services comics that are on consignment there. A Star Wars #1 blank variant with 6 sketches/signatures with a starting bid of only $99. Also starting at $99 bids are Aquaman #1 (New 52) graded/signed by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado and Sensational Wonder Woman #1 graded/signed by Gail Simone. Go right HERE to the InvestComics Ebay page to place a bid or buy it now.

Silk #1, buy it! For months and months and months now InvestComics has been high on the character Silk. We said that if you had to choose between the new Spider-Gwen or Silk, to choose Silk. If your heart fluttered or you got in the slightest bit angry about that statement, please stop reading this article and go argue with some Fanboy’s at your local comic shop who would win in a fight Gwen or Silk. Relax please. In no way shape or form is InvestComics saying that Gwen will not be successful. Never came out of these articles here. Never will. So what will I say to go out on a limb? Nothing too bad to disrupt the balance of the nerd universe, but I will say that in the long run, (my speculative call here; an opinion) Silk will have more to offer as far as character development goes. Gwen’s story is what it is. She was dead, now she’s not. Her story isn’t even in the depth’s of reality. Let me remind you, I’m not saying this is a horrible thing, it’s not actually, it’s a fun story. But, the Silk story may have more deepness/richness to it for years to come. One of the key components of Silk is the characters ethnicity. This alone is enough to make one realize the rareness and the possible complexity of what may come for Silk. Maybe not right away, but it may some day. Speculation here…..

Up and coming sensational creator Stacey Lee will start us off on the new era of Silk with issue number one. Stacey Lee is a phenomenal artist. A force to be reckoned with within the industry. Check out her web page right HERE and see some of the amazing things she has done so far in her short career. One of her first published comics is Steed and Mrs. Peel: We’re Needed #1 from Boom Studios.

STK645327So with the massive Silk love this week, (Gwen will have her turn next week) InvestComics gave you a heads up on Amazing Spider-Man #1. This issue featured the first appearance of Cindy Moon. It wasn’t until Amazing Spider-Man #4 the we saw Cindy Moon as Silk. I told you to buy these comics a very long time ago. I’m telling you to buy these comics now too. Click on the links and it will bring you to Ebay so that you can bid or buy your copies right away.

One more positive note here with the new Silk #1 book coming this Wednesday. There are only a few covers accompanying the debut here. No letter K variant, or letter S, nope just up to the letter D here, as in the fourth letter in the alphabet. Click the red link to buy your variant now. InvestComics loves Silk and the potential of the character. We love Gwen too, but Silk for the longevity win here.

….And speaking of no crazy variant cover run, you know what book looks attractive for the sole purpose of having just ONE cover and looking like an awesome story? Secret Identities #1 from Image Comics. Expect some buzz with this new TEAM book from Image. And only one cover too? Yep. As a speculator I like this this. No hunting down that variant that will give you the most bang for your buck.

With the recent announcement of Marvel Studios and Sony reaching an agreement to have Spider-Man crossover into their respective studio films, much of the comic book world immediately brought up Miles Morales as the potential replacement instead of having Peter star as the new Spidey. This probably is not going to happen, but a nice thought nonetheless. However, this week within Miles Morales’ comic book, he will show off a new spider power. This is pretty cool and a book to definitely keep an eye out on. Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man #10!

How about Grant Morrison and Jim Lee teaming up on Multiversity Mastermen #1!? That’s awesome sauce right here. Most won’t care that DC’s Multiversity is as confusing and convoluted as it gets. This is Morrison and Lee in the same book!

Jimmy_Amanda_InvestComicsRobin_Action_Comics_InvestComicsThe Bat books are an interesting bunch this week. Check out that cool homage cover to Batman and Robin #39. Instead of Superman it’s Robin? Okay. Batman Superman #19 variant cover was done by J.G Jones. Not only is the cover totally killer, but it features Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner on it! Get this comic triple signed and graded. You’ll without a doubt have a winner on your hands. And the last of the Bat books is Batwoman #39. Who is Red Alice? Find out this week.

David and Meredith Finch continue to make the Wonder Woman comic and character very relevant again. Check out Wonder Woman #39 as the Finch team introduces a new character.

Staying on topic about Wonder Woman, Superman Wonder Woman #16 introduces Magog into the New 52 universe. Besides Darkseid and or Doomsday possibly causing all sorts of issues for the Justice League of America on the big screen, Magog would be a distant third to fill in as the big bad wolf. His first appearance was in Kingdom Come #1 1996. He then reappeared in Justice Society Of America #18 in 2008. A bad as* villain with nothing but upside. Click the links and get your first appearances of Magog now.

Wonder_Woman_39_InvestComics Secret_Indentities_1_InvestComicsWith all the talk of a female dominate week; Silk, Gwen, Wonder Woman, Batwoman, Red Alice, why not also check out All New Captain America #4 too. A mysterious female character returns from the past. Who will it be? Read the comic and find out.

Something big will happen within the pages of Silver Surfer #9. Now that Spider-Verse is over, It’s time for fans to really pay attention to what writer Dan Slott has been up to during his Silver Surfer run.

Check out Sparks Nevada Marshal On Mars #1 from Image Comics. Looks like a fun read. Ei8ht Outcast #1 has nothing to do with the Kirkman Outcast title. This one is from Dark Horse and looks interesting. As Dr. Strange becomes more of a reality onto the big screeen, expect to see lots and lots of magic/mystic books like King Mandrake Magician #1 (Dynamite Entertainment).

And last but not least. Disney will have the new Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon coming soon, but until then we can all enjoy Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy #1. A prequel to the cartoon.

Remember to click on any of the RED links to go directly to Ebay to bid/purchase any books that your local shop has maybe under ordered or simply does not have. InvestComics saves you the time of doing the search and brings you right to your target on Ebay.

As mentioned a few weeks ago. InvestComics will be going through some major changes. This will change the landscape in ways that will have other major comic websites following suit. As they do now anyways! Again stay tuned….

Wonder Woman (2011 4th Series) #36 will be a huge book this week. Besides having the amazing superstar David Finch take over the creative duties on the series, there will be major introductions of characters and villains appearing. With a Wonder Woman movie coming in a few years, it’s a safe bet to assume that there will be some hot WW comics along the way. This one being one of them. It won’t have any affect on the movie what’s so ever because the script has already been handed in. But, that said, last minute changes happen often and maybe they borrow from the new direction here? Highly unlikely, but this doesn’t matter. WW books will heat up if DC continues to breath new life into the character and the series. With the Awesome David Finch at the helm and the new characters/villains in the mix, yes this is a very very big start. Buy this on Wednesday. Buy it.

So with Wonder Woman making her noise this week in a big way, how would the other guys answer the bell? With Spider-Woman (2014 5th Series) #1 of course. Not only will readers and collectors alike receive the return of the best Spider-Woman ever in Jessica Drew in her own series, but another character that InvestComics, yes that’s right InvestComics called quite a while ago to stock up on; Silk. I informed everyone here that Silk will be a force to be reckoned with within the Spidey universe. Well so much so, that not only will she appear in the hot number one issue here, but Silk will be getting her own series down the road. How does InvestComics do this? We are the best that’s why. Reiterating the past InvestComics Hot Pick(s), I tell you now, Buy Amazing Spider-Man #1 (2014) and Amazing Spider-Man #4 now before it’s too late. Get the variants signed and graded as also for the aforementioned comic above and flip them. Money to be made here with both Wonder Woman #36 and Spider-Woman #1 variants if done quickly and concisely.

Planet_Venom_InvestComics Spidey_VenomPlanetSuperman Wonder Woman (2013) #13 will feature the New 52 return of a villain group. Look at this comic and see if the story holds as this could lead into something else down the line for the group.

Two female lead books debut this week. Sinergy (2014 Image) #1 and Punk Mambo (2014) #0. Of course the Image comic is sold out already, while Valiants Punk Mambo is showing some very strong sales. And another sold out Image comic; Intersect (2014 Image) #1 looks very interesting. A must for collectors and readers.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2013 3rd Series) #21 will feature the Venom Planet. Gotta love that. The first time readers ever got a glimpse of the symbiote planet was in 1995’s Amazing Spider-Man Super Special #1. Fun times…..fun times indeed.

Batman_Superman_InvestComics Amazing_Spider_man_1Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #10 continues the Spider-Verse saga. You know what InvestComics has been saying about this, so no need in repeating. But if you’re new here, just scroll back to the previous weeks InvestComics Hot Picks and a few months ago as well to catch up. Yeah, that’s how we roll, we give you a heads up way before.

Batman Superman (2013 DC) #16 welcomes new series artist Ardian Syaf. This dude is on point.

Image Comics Goners (2014 Image) #2 is a sold out. And Epochalypse (2014 Legendary) #1 from Legendary looks like an interesting book. Check that one out.

See you soon. Invest wisely.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 8/13/14

Archie_Dark_KnightBack in 2010 Archie Comics made history. Kevin Keller was a national story. It was media frenzy. Riverdale had its first gay character. And this week, without all of the fanfare this time around, Kevin Keller is about to rewrite the books for Archie Comics once again………this time as the first gay superhero. That’s right; Kevin will don a costume as a superhero in Kevin Keller (2012 Archie) #14, thus making him Archie Comics’ first gay superhero. Kevin Keller first appeared in Veronica #202.

Want to capitalize on Kevin Keller #14? Check out the Frank Miller Dark Knight homage variant. An absolute beauty. Buy this, sign it, grade it, sell it. You’ll make some nice cash.

Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #5 will see the new character Silk in full force. Definitely a character you should be following.

Want to know when and where the next big Batman storyline will take place? It’ll take place this fall, but you can catch the very beginning of that major plot line this week in Batman (2011 2nd Series) #34.

Judge Dredd Anderson Psi Division (2014 IDW) #1 will probably sell out this week. It’s a new series focused on Judge Cassandra Anderson. Her first appearance was in 2000 A.D. #150 (1980). Good luck finding that one in Near Mint condition. If the Judge Dredd movie was ever to expand, Cassandra would be a good place to start.

You’ll probably be seeing a lot of Action Lab Entertainment on the shelf this Wednesday. And this is an awesome thing. Action Lab Entertainment puts out a great product and it’s just a matter of time before the company makes a severe impact on the comic book market. Three number one comics from them hit this Wednesday. And it looks like three empty spots as well if you aren’t quick enough to grab a copy of any of them. F1rst Hero (2014 Action Lab) #1 feels like the best of the bunch, but not to say that Midnight Tiger (2014 Action Lab) #1 and Southern Dog (2014 Action Lab) #1 would not be just as good. Action Lab Entertainment is arriving, don’t miss this train.

Action_Lab

A new series from legends Matt Wagner and Simon Bisley will see some nice sales. Take a look at Tower Chronicles Dreadstalker (2014 Legendary) #0. Most likely some amazing storytelling and art.

An interesting number one issue from Boom this week; Hexed (2014 Boom) #1. Should check that one out.

Catch a new Inhuman named Flint in Inhuman (2014 Marvel) #3.

See you next week and remember to check us out on your mobile device.

Have a great week. Read and make some money too.

Invest wisely. Carpe Diem.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 7/23/14

Three very hot comics on the must buy list from the speculative side hit on Wednesday. Yes they will be great reads, but you may want to pick up an extra copy on each. On one though, you’ll have to do some very quick maneuvering. Life with Archie (2010) #37 is the quickie culprit here. This comic takes place one year after the death of Archie (Life of Archie #36). The death issue had close friends of mine, non-comic collecting, texting me about the death issue. So with that in mind, realizing that the death of Archie has reached the media and people who really don’t know the real deal about Life of Archie #36. It’s not really a death issue. It’s an alternate telling of his death. Archie will live on in the comic book world, in “real time” if you will. Again, keeping this all in perspective, the sold out Life of Archie #36 and the now Sold Out Life of Archie #37 will sell for a nice premium in the aftermarket…….but for an extremely limited time. Very limited. Cash out as quickly as possible with the fad of Archie’s death. Get the variants from names like Walt Simonson, Jill Thompson, or even Alex Ross to get the most bang for your buck. There are other very nice variants available, but these three just mentioned are good to almost guarantee a return on your money with extra to buy other significant comics coming out this week.

[scrollGallery id=361]

Significant like Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #4. Unlike the Archie book, this comic is a bit of a buy and hold pattern. It might be hot right out of the gate, or maybe not. Here’s the deal. Have we gone the route of other people bitten by THE radioactive spider? Sure we have. But these days things are a bit different. We get the attractive girl (look at that cover), we get a superstar Spider-Man writer at the helm (Dan Slott), we have Hollywood breathing down the neck of every possible character within the Marvel Universe right now (Black Cat IS coming), and simply put SILK looks bad ass. Maybe this will be an X-23 first appearance? NYX was not a hot book right away. Not until the collectors realized that X-23 was actually in that book that it went bonkers. The Marvel solicitations had no mention of X-23. The obvious difference with Silk’s first appearance is that we all know it’s coming. The key to this first appearance and how big it will be depends on Dan Slott. Will the writer build her up to be her own entity?…..Her own persona?…..Some serious character development to keep the attention of a reader? If all of these things line up there are a few things to consider here. A: She will eventually get her own comic, B: This will be the first appearance of any significant character HP72314 (2)out of a Spidey book in a while, and C: Amazing Spider-Man #1 a couple of months ago would be the first appearance of Silk. Well actually the girl that got bit by the Spider. Hang onto Amazing Spider-Man #3 coming this Wednesday; I see a lot of upside here with the new girl on the block, Silk.

The third must get this Wednesday is Ragnarok (2014 IDW) #1. Legend Walt Simonson brings fans a new epic comic. A sold out epic comic at that! The cover for some reason brings me back to Thor #337 (1983), in which Mr. Simonson was singlehandedly responsible for putting Thor back on the map. Jack Kirby….Walt Simonson. Get Ragnarok #1, if anything you have an awesome read ahead for you, but something tells me that this will fall in favor on the spec side.

….More upside, but in the reading department coming from IDW. Transformers vs G.I. Joe (2014 IDW) #1 is Sold Out across the board. Regular cover and variants! Not sure what all the fuss is about here. They first fought in 1987 (Marvel Comics) and they went  at it a few times after that. Some loyal fans looking for a good fight. Don’t expect aftermarket to be of any promise with this, but expect some butt kicking action!

Secret Origins (2014) 3rd Series #4 features a secret origin story on Harley Quinn by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. Superman (2011 3rd Series) #33 continues the focus on Ulysses as Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr. bring more mystery in the background of this issue.

Supreme Blue Rose (2014 Image) #1 is sold out at Diamond. Better take a look at that one. IDW pokes fun at Marvel’s Secret Wars, Civil War and DC’s Crisis with Super Secret Crisis War Johnny Bravo (2014) #1. Great stuff here.

A quick note, the rumor mill is stirring about Moon Knight making his film debut. InvestComics has been all over this for YEARS with constant mentions of this. Here is a quickie from 2009 from InvestComics if you’d like to take a look; HERE

SupermanOne of the most anticipated Superman comics to come has arrived, Superman (2011 3rd Series) #32. Well, it’ll be here Wednesday, but it’ll be here. The new creative team of writer Geoff Johns and artist John Romita Jr. will be taking the reins. The folks at DC Comics are banking on this to be a huge hit. As well they should! This two are talents here! From all of the previews, it looks like it’s going to be a success. DC is billing the event as John Romita Jr.’s first DC work ever. While that may seem true to the masses, there is one thing that DC won’t tell you, but InvestComics will. Well, DC doesn’t have to say anything because maybe they didn’t give Mr. Romita Jr. a check back in 1994 or 1997 either. You see Mr. Romita Jr. penciled a book called Punisher/Batman: Deadly Knights in 1994 that featured that DC character in the title here. So what about 1997 you may ask? Well that one is a better book to discuss. You see, while DC, I guess didn’t give John a check for that 94 book, in 1997 he did a cover for a trade called Crossover Classics. That cover features a John Romita Jr. ……..(ready for this?)…….Superman! Cool right?! So not only is DC’s claim that the new Superman comic coming this Wednesday will be Jr.’s first DC work a bit tainted, but it’s also not the first time he’s drawn Superman professionally. What does this all mean? Well it means that if the new Superman comic heats up, the speculator could probably make a more attractive sale by offering his first true Superman work along with the hot comic. Now if you really want to make some nice cash, here’s what you do. Get either the incentive sketch variant or the incentive variant (the one he’s holding that big rock from crushing him), get them signature series/graded, couple the sale of the trade and your new 9.8 or higher signature series book and you have something very nice that a collector will want. Don’t forget to let them know that InvestComics helped you out with this one…….don’t be selfish.
